Maybelline Volume XL Seduction Lip Plumper

maybelline Volume XL Lip PlumperAs I was walking up to Bryant Park for the opening ceremony of Fashion Week with Christina of ebeauty Daily and Teri of Aging Fabulous, these girls on the corner were handing out free lip gloss. Of course, never one to pass on something free, I gleefully took it and put it in my coat pocket. Caught up by the excitement of seeing Brooke Shields and the rest of the cast of Lipstick Jungle cut the ribbon at The Tents made me forget all about it until a few weeks ago.

I noticed that this gloss simply said “Lipstick Jungle” on it and made no mention of which brand it was, the color, etc. and so on. It’s a cute applicator and is much like e.l.f.’s Moisture Care Lip Color, except minus the velvety tip.

The color is gorgeous and since it didn’t tell me the shade it was on the product, my best guess is that it is Seductively Nude–a pinkish type nuetral.

What I didn’t expect? Considering that the product made no mention that it was a lip plumper (it wasn’t in any packaging), for days I thought I was having a reaction to this gloss because my lips burned. Since I didn’t know who made the gloss it was hard for me to track it down to find out. That is, until I was reading a magazine at the dentist and saw a big ad for it. Volume XL Seduction Lip Plumper. Ahh the burning makes sense now. My lips did slightly plump, but nothing significant or magical. Definitely not Amanda Lepore type lips.

Pretty color, nice shine, awful burning sensation–I’m not sure if that balances out everything. Have you used it?

Okay, so I have tried them all aside from LipFusion (I refuse to spend $40 on a gloss!)
And I cannot use this one! I too bought the Nude color mentioned and it is such a Fantastic color!! Just the perfect pale pinky nudey color….issues….my lips are now all red and inflamed!!! They itch so much that I now have a red line around my mouth!!! I am living right now in my Burt’s Bee’s balm just for the cool fator it is giving me!!!

I have never had this problem with other lip plumber, even Lip Venom, but this one is all irritation to me!

  4. Dawn says:

its anywhere from $4.99 to $8.99 depending on where you are looking and what deals they have. CVS always has some sort of deal going on.

  5. Jasmin says:

    what’s CVS:S
    i live in ontario…

  6. Shannon says:

Jaszmin, CVS is a drugstore in the US. I would check your local drugstore for it or where Maybelline is typically sold in your area.

i just bought this lipgloss and i got the same reaction…my lips started to burn and the first night i used it, i got a rash on my chin and around my lips. i recommend NOT using it if you have sensitive skin.

You all must have young, sensitive lips. I’m 39 and I bought it today and have had it on for an hour. Although it does cause the tingling, it certainly doesn’t burn me. It makes me feel like my lips are fuller. The shine of it probably makes them look bigger, but I don’t thinkg they really are. I kind of like the tingle though. I guess I have old leather lips or something. :-)

  10. Shannon says:

    Teri,

I wish I had “young lips” ;) You are only a few years older than me.

  11. Dawn says:

Nope…34 almost 35. A week later I am still dealing with effects!!!!

Sad thing is…I love the color and what it does so much I keep reaching for it then put it back into my bag b/c I can’t risk the itch!!!!

  12. alex says:

    LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Caitlin says:

If you had a terrible burning sensation it could be that your lips were chapped, it comes with a warning, you need very moisturized lips to use it…
