Something to look forward to…

Or not. Yes, this is a non-makeup post, so if anyone out there is upset about it, please click on another post. ;)
Let me start by saying, I just got back from the hospital…an overnight stay at the hospital. Hospitals are not fun. Especially cold ones with lots of static that make my hair frizz out. What is really not fun was seeing that my body was having some “issues” last evening after dinner that made me fear that something was wrong with the baby. Since these were the same issues that arose 1 year ago when I had a miscarriage with my last baby, we promptly called my midwife and made our way to the hospital.
For those who know me, you know that I was pretty petrified. Once in the hospital and hearing that little boy’s heartbeat, I felt a bit better. He was a little rascal, getting me in trouble by constanting kicking the doppler attached to my stomach all over the place. The nurses thought I was constantly moving until they came into the room watching my stomach bounce all over from his mighty kicks…watch out David Beckham.
The usual pee in a cup and blood work was done and I attempted to sleep. This morning my midwife said the “pee in a cup” came back unusual and also that my cervix had started to soften. Ok, sorry to gross you out, but I know that other moms will immediately know that this is not a good thing, especially at only 25 weeks. So I head to ultrasound to see a very healthy little boy. Cervix looks good, but I need to take it easy so that I don’t push myself into pre-term labor. However, they decided to do some checking of my kidneys and gall bladder.
The fun part? I will need to have my gall bladder taken out some time after the baby is born. It appears that my gall bladder is the issue. Fun. My little one is already 2 pounds and I was told that sometimes gall bladder disease can cause stress on the baby and make him gain more weight than usual as a protective measure.
OK–let me just say that my last son was 8.8lbs. So the thought of a baby any bigger than that is not at all amusing. Also, I now have to watch my diet, which means no more ice cream (the horror!), no more spicy food (I will miss those spicy yummy tacos my husband makes) and nothing that may be high in fat. So I guess I am on a diet. ;)
So thankfully the baby is safe and sound. Mommy just needs to learn to slow down and eat better and now look forward to sugery down the road.

Shannon, glad to hear that you and the baby are okay! How scary for you…
Take care and get lots of rest :)

Shannon, wow.
I’m glad everything is okay:)
Keep your feet up, as much as possible! The most important thing right now is to take care of yourself and that baby!
Shannon,
that visit(and what led up to it) sounded frightening. I am glad to hear that you and the baby are ok,though.
Maybe you can arrange to have a professional esthetician to come by your house, for a little spa day time. Then you will be relaxed and the hospital trip will be a very distant memory.
Take it easy!
I’m sorry to hear about the future gall bladder surgery, but I’m happy to hear the baby is doing well! I’ve been having some weird pain over the last several days, and I’m off to the doc on Monday to rule out gall bladder problems, too. Take it easy and take good care of that boy!
A little bad news (gall bladder) mixed in with the good (healthy baby!). Very happy to hear that you made it through ok.
I’m glad to be reading this now and knowing that everything turned out wonderfully in the end…now they’re kickin your make up and not your stomach!
