First up is Bobbi Brown’s new Chrome Collection. Hitting counters this November is the Chrome Palette- her cool, contemporary take on holiday beauty. Featuring icy shimmering accents for eyes and lips, this chrome fold-out palette includes everything you need to create countless party-ready looks including: 10 eye shadows, 4 lip shades, a Mini Eye Shadow Brush and a Mini Lip Brush.

Chrome lips are another trend Bobbi loves for the holiday season- which is why she is introducing three new limited edition products for lips: Port Lip Color, Chrome Metallic Lip Color and Plum Pearl Metallic Lip Color. These look really dramatic and gorgeous, though I’m not sure how wearable the Chrome is beyond layering.

The collection also includes Bobbi’s holiday Chrome Mini Brush Set- the perfect present for the beauty-junkie in your life (or yourself!). The set, which comes in a chrome zip-around cases features a Mini Face Blender, the new Mini Angle Eye Shadow Brush and a Mini Eye Liner brush.

To get the look, try snagging a vintage dress from your closet or the closet of your mom or grandmother. Accessorize it conservatively with classic pearls, diamond studs, matching mid-height heels and a chic clutch.

For the makeup, start with a powder foundation (I like the one from Michael Marcus Cosmetics ($40) as it creates a close – to – flawless complexion.)

Next, apply a thin line of cake eyeliner and add a soft, neutral beige eye shadow from the lash line up to the crease.

For the lips, go with a classic, matte red! If you don’t already have a red in your makeup arsenal, try MAC Russian Red ($14) or Michael Marcus Debbie ($24). For a camera-ready pucker, make sure that lips are exfoliated and moisturized before applying a matte lipstick. Bobbi Brown recommends using a warm washcloth to exfoliate!

Voila, you’ve got Mad Men style!

My latest try is Maybelline’s new SuperStay Concealer and I’m impressed!

This long-wearing, yet lightweight, formula stays flawless (no creases in the undereye area) and doesn’t budge for hours. (Maybelline claims 24 hours, but I always make it a point to remove my makeup before bed, so I can’t weigh in on that!)

There’s quite a bit of coverage as well and the wand applicator makes application a breeze.  For my dark circles, I tap on three small dots and then blend; for blemishes, I dot the wand directly on just once before blending.

SuperStay Concealer is available in five shades and has a suggested retail price of $9.99 (is it just me or are drugstore makeup prices getting higher and higher?)  Pick it up at mass retailers near you!

• I feel a great mascara can open the eye and instantly make you look as though you’ve have a good night’s sleep, even when that is not the case.  I use 2-3 coats of Lancome Fatale on the top, bottom, and also on the back of the top lashes.
• Because of my Indian ancestry, I love darkly rimmed eyes – a messy eye adds a sexy yet natural look to a classic outfit.  To make the eyes smoky, I use Revlon’s Luxurious Color Kohl eyeliner in Black Truffle on the inside of the lids.
• Bright lipstick is a way to quickly pop an outfit and freshen up a look a la Ava Gardner in “The Barefoot Contessa.”  My favorite bright is MAC’s Morange lipstick – it’s a great way to add a twist to a classic look.
• Another way to make your face pop is to fill in the eyebrows.  I use Bobbi Brown’s eye shadow in Navajo.

This intense coverage concealer has a drier formula, which leads to really amazing staying power. Simply dab a bit onto the stiff concealer brush (it’s great quality and included with purchase, talk about value!) and brush under eyes to cover dark circles and refract light. 

Best of all, with 100% natural ingredients like mineral pigments, honey extract, vitamin e and soybean extract, the results delivered by Dark Circle Defense are lasting – in fact, 100% of test subjects reported at least a minor reduction in under eye puffiness over the course of four weeks – pretty awesome, right? I’m looking forward to seeing if the same holds true for me.

My only caveat is that just two shades of Dark Circle Defense are available right now – light/medium and medium/deep.  I found a match in the first but those with a porcelein complexion as well as those on the darker end of the scale are unlikely to find a shade that works.

If you’ve never tested Bobbi’s gel liners, you’re in for a treat. If you use the right brush (I dig MAC’s 210), they’re super simple to apply and leave the perfect swipe of long lasting color.

The Forest hue in particular is stunning, in my opinion –  it’s a deep green and golden pearl that really makes hazel and brown eyes pop!

You can pair this with one of the two new pearlized eye shadows for fall –  Autumn Shimmer Wash and Bash Metallic – for the a fall appropriate smokey eye.
