Check out Rachel’s tidbits below and if you have any questions or comments, please share!
Rachel says:
I feel a great mascara can open the eye and instantly make you look as though you’ve have a good night’s sleep, even when that is not the case. I use 2-3 coats of Lancome Fatale on the top, bottom, and also on the back of the top lashes.

Sue Devitt is among my favorite luxe beauty brands. I love that Sue herself takes a lot of inspiration from her travels and that she incorporates that inspiration into the collection each season.
For a long time, I could only find the line at Barney’s but I’m pleased to share that Sue Devitt has just launched a new e-commerce site of her own – and for a limited time only, there’s a great gift with purchase up for grabs.
To celebrate the launch of the new website, you’ll receive a complimentary Eye Intensifier Pencil in Kalahari (a gorgeous, on-trend gray) and Silky …read more
Fall 2009: Bobbi Brown Forest Shimmer Ink

Bobbi Brown’s new Ivy League Collection for Fall 2009 includes a fresh, new spin on fall’s strong eye: Forest Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner.
If you’ve never tested Bobbi’s gel liners, you’re in for a treat. If you use the right brush (I dig MAC’s 210), they’re super simple to apply and leave the perfect swipe of long lasting color.
The Forest hue in particular is stunning, in my opinion – it’s a deep green and golden pearl that really makes hazel and brown eyes pop!
You can pair this with one of the two new pearlized eye shadows for fall – Autumn …read more
Get the Look: Amy Adams

The lovely Amy Adams attended the premiere of her new flick, Julie & Julia, last night and Cover Girl makeup artist Molly Stern created her red carpet look. She says:
“It always seems that inspiration ends up coming from the dress. Last night Amy wore a gorgeous full length Carolina Herrera gown with a charcoal and white pattern speckled with gold beading. So I borrowed from that exquisite color palette. We went for a steel and copper smoky lid, gorgeous full lashes, a peachy cheek and a golden amber lip.”

Tailored menswear-inspired looks ran rampant for Fall 2009 collections. Prescriptives latest collection is a perfect match. Meet Well-Suited, a Fall Color Collection that translates the edgy, yet feminine menswear trend into a range of sophisticated hues for eyes, cheek and lip.
Prescriptives Director of Color Artistry Jillian Veran says of the collection, “We all love a good lip gloss, but there is something incredibly feminine about the bold statement of a lipstick…in this collection the look of a creamy nude lipstick is accentuated by a strong eye liner…create a sharp straight line or a smudgy, sexy look, but either way you will want to line the inside …read more

Smokey eyes can be a tricky makeup technique to master – unless, of course, you’ve got the right products and tools in your arsenal. If you’ve been looking to add some smolder to your look, you’ll definitely want to snag L’Oreal’s new HIP Kohl Eyeliner.
These loose kohl eyeliners are a relatively simple to use and produce a really lovely, soft smokey eye without the need for a smudger. They also come in six colors – from the simple black to some bold brights like teal and gold. An eyeliner to suit every mood! Now, THAT’s a concept I can get …read more

“Hi, I was wondering whether anyone had suggestions for how to line around the entire eye, even the inner corners…to achieve a look like Amrita Rao’s (pictured). I’ve seen this done on many Indian and Arabic models/actresses, but I can’t quite figure out how to do it–nor how to keep in smudge-proof! Any ideas?” Sheena, Michigan

Borghese New Linea Precisa Liquid Eyeliner

To add dramatic definition just at the lash line, nothing’s better than a dash of black, and now Borghese introduces the perfect, silky stroke of genius, Linea Precisa Liquid Eyeliner with an easier-than-ever felt-tip applicator. The net effect: seriously mysterious & alluring eyes.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never worn liquid liner simply because my eyes tend to water a lot–ok the kids poke me in the eye all of the time in some way or another–so I fear having a running black stream of liner down my face.
Do you wear liquid liner? Have you tried this new liquid liner from Borghese?

I know the Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Eyeshadow Quads have been around for a while now, but the compacts are so beautiful–how can you justify just putting it away in your makeup bag?
I have Sueded Browns and Velvet Plumtones, both gorgeous, rich colors. If you have hazel eyes, both of these palettes look amazing. The pigments are great and the colors are long lasting.
I used the eyeshadows in conjunction with Elizabeth Arden’s Smoky Eye Powder Pencils (Espresso and Smokey Black). Totally loved how easily and effortlessly the line blended using the foam tip to create that gorgeous sexy smoky eye.

Makeup Palettes
I don’t know about you, but I am lazy.
As a mom, most times I don’t have time to sift through my huge collection of colors to decide which ones to mix and match and which lipgloss or lipstick would make the perfect combination. I just need to slap it on and run before someone is tugging at my leg (most times while applying mascara or eyeliner) and demanding my attention. Therefore, I am lazy because I want someone to choose my colors for me.
Thank goodness that the cosmetic industry understands people like me and have created palettes. There are many …read more
