The brand just introduced its Fall 2009 Makeup collection, created by Artistic Director and Allure contributor Dick Page. The inspiration for Shiseido Fall was drawn from mosaic art, bringing a variety of different shades together to create a “full wardrobe” of colors, one that would fulfill a woman’s basic needs for every occasion.

These colors are reflected in the new Luminizing Satin Eye Color Line, an elegant collection with the luminous look of fine silk. Available in 15 unique shades ($25 each), this new interpretation of neutrals, pastels and brights makes choosing color an adventure. You can wear these alone or in combination for an unlimited variety of looks for the season.

Key colors in the collection? I’m oh-so-glad that you asked!

Black polish gets injected with a shot of colorful shimmer, with Lava Rock-a black and red pearl swirl, and Blackened Bleu-a black polish with sapphire sparkle. Blue and Green polishes come in brand-new hues, with Falling Star-a marine blue with gold glitter particles, and Polished Princess-a safari green with copper shimmer (this shade is CALLING MY NAME!)

Drop-dead reds include Glammed Out Garnet-a ruby-on-ruby sparkle, and Pin Up-a tomato red shimmer. Grey gets glam, with Out-Grey-Geous-a silver shimmer, U-Concrete-Me-a steely gray, Slate of Affairs-a worn denim, Putt-E-On-Me-a classic clay. The ultimate coffee indulgence is Make it a Latte-a chocolate cream with golden highlights. Purple gets even prettier with Get Mauve-ing-a muted mauve.

This intense coverage concealer has a drier formula, which leads to really amazing staying power. Simply dab a bit onto the stiff concealer brush (it’s great quality and included with purchase, talk about value!) and brush under eyes to cover dark circles and refract light. 

Best of all, with 100% natural ingredients like mineral pigments, honey extract, vitamin e and soybean extract, the results delivered by Dark Circle Defense are lasting – in fact, 100% of test subjects reported at least a minor reduction in under eye puffiness over the course of four weeks – pretty awesome, right? I’m looking forward to seeing if the same holds true for me.

My only caveat is that just two shades of Dark Circle Defense are available right now – light/medium and medium/deep.  I found a match in the first but those with a porcelein complexion as well as those on the darker end of the scale are unlikely to find a shade that works.

Inspired by Surrealism, the Dolce & Gabbana A/W 09 runway collection echoed both revolutionary sensibility and rebellious spirit and that inspiration trickled down to the beautiful (and a bit unexpected) Fall 2009 Dolce & Gabbana The Makeup Romantic collection.

“We worship the surrealists; they pushed the limits-and proved that anything is possible,” says Stefano Gabbana, “With the Romantic Collection, the idea is to break away from the expected to transform beauty, creating a look that is about ultimate fantasy.”"And the ultimate luxury,” adds Domenico Dolce, “After all, the ultimate luxury is to dream and, for the Dolce & Gabbana woman, the dream should always be a reality.” (Oh, those Italians!)

Legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath collaborated closely with the designers to create the beauty look that includes a few beautiful new shades of light, ethereal pinks.

For Lips:

Soft, a new shade of the classic lipstick and the lipliner.

The same hue adds sophistication to nails, through the new Soft shade of the nail lacquer.

Eyes are delicate, yet smoldering with the eyeshadow duo in Rose:

Cheeks appear lightly flushed with the blush in new Delight:

“Dolce & Gabbana wanted to take risks with colour, texture, mood – and at the same time capture the essence of each element,” says Pat McGrath.”While the focus is on the eyes – very sexy, very daring – the soft voluptuous lips add an intensity that’s erotic. I must admit – I find the pink palette an odd choice for Fall, which I normally associate with reds, wines, plums and a nice smokey eye! That said, shades like this really work for my skintone regardless of season, so I might just embrace the look.
