Did you know that for the first time, women own half the businesses in the U.S. and are set to equal men on the nation’s payroll? That’s pretty fab news, isn’t it, ladies?
To celebrate, beauty entrepreneur Poppy King has partnered with Count Me In For Women’s Economic Independence to launch a sheer fire engine red lip gloss – aptly dubbed Fired Up Power Gloss – to help fuel the fires of women who are creating new jobs and leading the nation out of recession.
100 % of the profits from the sale of Fired Up will go to Count Me In, …read more

Shannon did great things with Makeup Minute over the past few years and I know all her readers will miss her. And I’m also sure Liberty Kontranowski, the new blogger, realizes that she has big shoes to fill and is up to the challenge. Liberty isn’t a stranger to the b5media Beauty & Style Channel, she has blogged at Teen Style Lounge and Snarkstress.
Liberty will be starting a Makeup Minute within a week or so. In the mean time, I’m going to fill in for the next few days until she gets started. I’m Kori Ellis, …read more
New Makeup Alert: Prescriptives Lipshine

It’s been a long while since I’ve talked about a product from Prescriptives, but my eyes couldn’t help but stare lustfully at their new Lipshine that just hit counters this week.
Lipshine looks like a lipstick, but it’s meant to give the shine of a gloss. I know my friend Teri over at Aging Fabulous recently Twittered that she is all about lipstick lately–I bet she would love this just as much as I would (cause you know I am all about the glossy shine).
As always Prescriptives has the perfect color to match your skin tone, so there is something for …read more
YSL GLOSS PUR Black

Love YSL, but I totally cannot get into the dark lip/black lip trend AT ALL. However, for those of you who can, YSL has a very limited edition gloss that is available now called PUR Black. It is an online exclusive that could possibly sell out (since I may be in the minority about hating on the dark lip fall makeup trend.)
The official quote from the folks at YSL:
“Mysterious, sensual, luminous… A cosmetic jewel that turns lips into a spectacular fashion statement. From plum to ebony, it dresses lips in an infinite range of shades, depending on how it is applied …read more
Lancome Color Fever Shine–L.U.C.I.

Ever since I got ahold of Lancome’s Color Fever Shine lip glosses and lipsticks from their L.U.C.I. collection, I have been singing that song “Fever” much to the chagrin of my children (who are sick of hearing it).
Here’s what I’ve tried:
Color Fever Gloss in Sunray (iridescent) and Seashell (fuchsia): Do not be afraid of Seashell. In the glass tube it appears hot pink, but once applied it is a nice berry color. For me as the time wore on, it had more of a flushed lip color to it. Sunray looks great alone or paired over lipstick.

Nars Lip Gloss/Lip Stain Gloss Duo

What first appeared to look like tarte’s double ended lip gloss, has surprised me with long lasting color and a beautiful shine. Nars Lip Gloss/Lip Stain Gloss in Turkish Delight/Sayonara appears to be the same raspberry/pale pink, but once out of the tube and onto the lips, it doesn’t look similar at all.
Silky smooth with a satiny finish, this duo looks amazing. Turkish Delight is the perfect hue of pink, which looks great with cool tone colors and that no makeup look. Sayonara is more of a berry brown color for your neutrals and warmer shades. Sayonara is the lip …read more

When I had my ColorPrint done with Prescriptives, their Moonbeam Reflective Gloss was one of the products they used to make me look fabulous. I loved it so much, I now have this product in my handbag at all times!
Moonbeam is based on your ColorPrint (which I totally recommend you have done). They are set up by undertones:
Y/O: Yellow Orange compliments golden undertones.
R/O: Red Orange compliments warm peach undertones.
R: Red compliments cool pink undertones.
B/R: Blue Red compliments cool rose undertones.
Although my undertones are B/R, the Prescriptives makeup artist used R/O in Neutron on me, It is similar to the orangy/peach …read more

If you are anything like me, then you love to jazz up our lips for these holiday parties. I’ve been wearing MAC Cosmetics Viva Glamorous in their cool lips palette since the beginning of November and it does tend to make you feel a bit…glamorous.
Just like Royal Assets, Viva Glamorous comes in a gorgeous antique looking embellished crown case. The cool lips appear to be pink tones in the picture, but the far left color is a matte beige, middle is a coral/red color with a lot of shimmer and on the right you have more of a satin …read more
MESS New York Lip Varnish

I recently discovered MESS New York, a mineral makeup boutique in NY. They use pure Mica in all of their products and I was intrigued by their Lip Varnish, which is supposed to be like a liquid lipstick. I have Murray Hill, which MESS describes as a “Pink Lemonade Glaze with a Fairy Dust Finish.” We all know how I love pink.
The Lip Varnish applicator is like that of a nail polish brush. Even though the Lip Varnish appears to be thicker than a gloss, it doesn’t go on clumpy. The consistency on your lips is not tacky and does …read more
Benefit Cosmetics “Justine Case”

It seems that California Kissin was a one hit wonder, soon to be miniturized and is now part of the “Justine Case” Wrapped and Ready product category of Benefit Cosmetics. I’ve had California Kissin (in the “old” full size version) for a while and feel mixed about it…
California Kissin is Benefit’s “fake it” gloss for whiter looking teeth. It’s a clear gloss with lots of blue shimmer. Its minty scent and taste will keep you feeling like you just brushed your teeth (or you just have some Colgate Total action going on).
The mint isn’t a bad thing, just not expected …read more
