New York Fashion Week: Erin Fetherston

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is trucking along here in New York, though I’m back to desk duty at my day job!  The weekend was a flurry of backstage and show appointments, though, so never fear, I still have several New York Fashion Week posts to share.  Next up: Erin Fetherston, who’s always a fave of mine!

The face of Erin Fetherston for Spring 2010 focused clearly on the eyes and was created by makeup artist Lucia Pica for MAC. I was lucky enough to be backstage at Milk Studios during the test (which is when the first model’s look is …read more

Makeup Minute How To: Store Your Makeup

I can only speak for myself but it seems that the more makeup I have, the more makeup I WANT! So, it makes sense that storage and organization becomes issues.
First and foremost, before organizing your makeup, make sure that you’re holding on to items that you really love. I know that we’re all prone to hoarding gorgeous colors or special packaging – and that’s okay. But if you don’t love it or it’s not useful to you, it’s a waste.  Try passing along what you don’t use to a friend, selling it on eBay (must be new) swapping it on …read more

Rock On: MAC Grand Duos

Rock On: MAC Grand Duos

Grand Duos are MAC’s latest take on the Mineralize Blushes – one side is marbleized with tri-colour veining to enhance and glorify cheekbones and the other, a complimentary mono shade to add a pop of colour. A soft, shimmery pearl on both sides gives skin a subtle glow.
My fave Grand Duo is Love Rock, a gold hued violet paired with a blue toned pink. It’s beautiful on many skin tones, especially if you lean cool.  Try applying  any of the Grand Duos with MAC’s 188 or 187 brush for a diffused glow that seems to come from within.
If pinky hues aren’t for you, there are six other shades available in …read more

MAC Hello Kitty Collection

MAC Hello Kitty Collection

It has killed me to keep quiet about the Hello Kitty collection from MAC Cosmetics! I went to the editor preview back in November and have been under embargo until now! I’m sure you’ve seen the leaks out there that MAC is launching Hello Kitty (and Hello Kitty Couture ooh la la) in February. You’ll be able to find it here in the states on February 12th and internationally it will be available in March.
Here’s some pictures from the event and of the products. There will also be an amazing video coming out in February that beauty editors got to …read more

Purple-haired vixen, Dame Eda, has collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to launch a post-holiday makeup collection of lovely pinks and blues. I think the trademark glasses on each product is adorable whether you are a Dame Edna fan or not. The Dame Eda collection becomes available on December 26 at MAC counters everywhere.
This collection includes lipsticks, lipglass, nail lacquer, highlight power and trio eyeshadow palettes in Royal Tour and Wisteria. Below are just a few samples of the products from the collection.

Spring Makeup Trends 2009 Behnaz Sarafpour

Behnaz Sarafpour was my favorite show to be backstage for, not only because of the wonderful spring-like look to the makeup that is completely wearable off the runway, but because MAC Cosmetics Makeup Artist Charlotte Tilbury (pictured) was lovely and Linea Pro hair stylist, Ashley Javier was hot very nice.
Charlotte’s look for Behnaz’s show was romantic, paintly and garden nymph-inspired. She used no foundation on the face, only lip conditioner on the lips (for a sweet, healthy look), and broken silver (Cyber Metal X) and brown on the eyes.

The makeup complimented Ashley’s ethereal look for hair. The overall look reminded …read more

Spring Makeup Trends at Diesel Black Gold

Spring Makeup Trends at Diesel Black Gold

This was my first time backstage at Diesel Black Gold and it was definitely wonderful! I had the opportunity to talk with Val Garland from MAC who was leading the makeup for the show. The look was definitely different, but very atune to what Diesel is about.

The focus for this show was on the brows, however not your typical bold brow like last season, but one uniquely different. They were a defined penciled brow with pops of color. Wavy Blue and Magenta were used to shade the brows drawing attention above the eyes. Each brow was draw with a thin …read more

MAC Cosmetics N Collection

A portrait in the nude, daring in its stripped-down sensuality with natural shades in Mineralized Skinfinishes that play up the nakedness of cheeks, lips, eyes…for a glamazon who knows the power of artifice, but has the confidence and allure to strip it all away. N Collection is naked, with coverage – it’ll be our little secret. Custom-created high-performance brushes mean no one need ever know. Seductive, and ripe for scandal.
You didn’t know it during Fashion Week SS08, but the N Collection was being used all over the runway. This collection just became available in stores a few days ago and …read more
