Brody is born!

Well girls, Brody has arrived! I went into labor around 1am Monday morning and then decided to head to the hospital at 4:15am. We got there at 4:50am and Brody made his entrance at 5:57am. Most of the moms reading this will know that this means I was unable to get an epidural…I’m still reeling in pain from it all. Still—my boy is GORGEOUS. He seems to have to some reflux issues, but otherwise is very healthy. And did I mention gorgeous? The pictures below really don’t do him justice.

Here are his stats:

Born May 14th @ 5:57am
9lbs 3oz. and 20.5 inches long
One very happy mommy who is madly in love with him.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I hope every mom is enjoying their day today! Here are my 3 guys playing with their Super Soakers that Steve (PMPR boss) bought them to celebrate their brother’s birth. Aren’t they beautiful?

Speaking of their brother’s birth…tomorrow (Monday) is induction day (again), but I am having some pretty big contractions as we speak. So who knows, he may chose to be born on Mother’s Day. Hopefully the next post will be a picture of my beautiful newborn.

14 hours, contractions every 3 minutes and….

Absolutely nothing. It appears that you can be tortured and your baby still can say, “Nah–I don’t feel like being born today.” Kind of reminds me of that Aflac commercial with the goat. So after 14 hours of being on Pitocin with contractions every 3 minutes, they sent me home because my body made no changes and the baby just didn’t feel like coming out.

I’m trying to negotiate with him that he needs to arrive in the next day or so or I may freak out…just a little bit. I’m scheduled to try this all over again on the 14th. So for anyone who voted for anytime after yesterday for him to arrive—you may still be in the running for that gift certificate. ;)

Until then, it’s back to reviews.

Latest Baby News

The voting is now closed for the baby contest. Since today is not over, I can’t rule out if the baby will be born today or not. I’m actually hoping not because my midwife is not on call today. Instead its a doctor who had to be the one to tell me in January 2006 that I was in the process of a miscarriage…”It’s not your fault, you just have a bad baby.” (Lovely).

Anyway–what I was illuding to in my last baby post, was that my midwife and I decided I would be induced. The big day is tomorrow (Tuesday 5/8) and I have to be at the hospital at 6am. Its like Christmas here today with the kids jumping around with excitement knowing that tomorrow they will be meeting their new little brother. My mom is on her way up from the Philly area to stay the night and watch the kids tomorrow.

I can’t help but be nervous though. The last time I delivered a baby it was dead (I was 12 weeks pregnant and got to see the teenie tiny baby). So you can’t imagine, unless you have had a miscarriage yourself, just how scared and awful I feel right now. He keeps moving and giving me such back labor, but I am still so nervous that something will go wrong.

I know, TMI, but I just needed to vent that to other women that I know may understand just how I feel right now.

So keep me in your thoughts, and when I come home, I’ll be sure to post a picture of my gorgeous little newborn.

Baby news–sort of

I’m just sayin. I know something YOU don’t know. I certainly don’t want to spoil the contest and it’s killing me not to share the news with some of my friends who have ventured a guess for the contest.

Which, by the way, the prize is a gift certificate to Sephora. I realized in my pregnancy fog that I never mentioned what the actual prize would be for the winner.

I had my “last” visit to the midwife today and she told me a “few things” and we also came to a “decision.”

If those words of mystery don’t prompt you to get your butt in gear to head over to the post on the baby contest, I don’t know what will. Just get your guesses in people (sooner rather than later if you know what I mean).

A Contest That Is Totally Off Topic

I have makeup sitting here just waiting for me to write it’s review…yet today I feel a little lazy (and fat as I eat this double chocolate swiss miss cake roll–but it’s for the baby!)

So I’d like to have a little contest regarding my baby. Yes, I know. I am totally baby-focused at the moment because when you have a kid that kicks like David Beckham 24/7, there really is nothing else you can do but be reminded that he is in there.

So here’s the scoop:

Guess the weight, length and date he will arrive. Whoever is the closest to his actual birth stats will win a prize. You have to make your guess count by posting it in the comments so that everyone knows I wasn’t biased and randomly picking someone.

To help you out, here are the stats:

At an ultrasound last week, it was determined that he currently weighs 6.8lbs. Babies gain between 1/2 to 1 pound a week in their final weeks before birth. His estimated due date is May 10th.

History:

1 son born 8.5lbs, 22 inches and 2 weeks late.
1 son born 8.5lbs, 21 inches and 5 days early.
1 son born 8.8lbs, 19 inches and 5 days early.

OK, that’s all the help you get in guessing correctly. Be sure to get in your vote/guess and make it count! Once he born, everything will be posted (with a picture of how lovely he is) and the winner announced.

The Makeup “Artist”

I use the word Artist pretty loosely here. This Makeup “Artist” is no true Makeup Artist per say, but more into the artform itself. The canvas? My bathroom walls and cabinet doors.

Basically the lesson I need to learn is 1. Do not leave my makeup in the makeup bag unzipped 2. leaving such makeup out on display is very tempting to little children 3. make sure that the most important makeup is placed way up high where a certain 2 year old cannot reach it.

Lesson learned, but how can I be mad at that beautiful grinning child?

My name is Shannon and I love makeup. Give me some lip gloss and a nice eye shadow and you will have a new best friend. I’ve loved makeup since my mother began applying it on me from the early age of 3 for my dance recitals. It was only until a few years ago that I really fell in love with everything about makeup and understood how it could not only change your outward appearance, but how you feel on the inside, as well.

This blog is intended to be one that is written with you in mind, the makeup consumer. Or maybe you are just starting to discover your ~~addiction~~ love for makeup, too.

Other things to know about me: I am a 33 year old mother of 4 beautiful boys I cherish, ages 8, 5, 3 and 4 months. My husband and our family live in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Northeast PA. I am a rep. for Jordan Essentials and my very first blog, that is my heart, is A Girl’s Gotta Spa.
