Beauty Resource: Beautyticket

We all have an urge to splurge on occasion but the still-precarious economy is enough to make any woman think, “Hold on to your wallet.” I’d never encourage anyone to spend beyond their means, particularly when there are so many great drugstore beauty products but if you’re in the mood for something that feels like a little more of an indulgence, check out Beautyticket.com.
This newly-launched online retailer of discount premium makeup, skincare, hair products, nail care, bath and body items sells a bounty of amazing brands, including PopBeauty, Smashbox, Vincent Longo (pictured left) and Stila – all at prices of up …read more

New York Fashion Week: Marchesa

Marchesa’s show always boasts GORGEOUS hair and makeup – in fact, last season’s look (created by Stila and John Frieda) was among my very favorites of the Fall 2009 season.  This season – Spring 2010 – was no exception, but this time around, lead artist Talia Shobrook for NARS Cosmetics created the face, which focused on soft, almost diffused skin and long, feathered lashes.
The inspiration behind the collection came from Madame Butterfly. “I wanted to capture the real look of Japan, create layers and bits of origami,” said Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman. The whimsical creations based in sculpted layers balanced …read more

New York Fashion Week: Stila at Lela Rose

So, we’ve already talked nails with Deborah Lippman, but the Lela Rose Spring 2010 makeup look was just as lovely. Created by Sarah Lucero for Stila/Beauty.com, the theme of the morning was watercolors and overall, the makeup, hair and nails evoked a beachy, Malibu-feeling.

Backstage, models’ complexions were evened out with Stila’s Sheer Color Moisturizer SPF 15, while Pomegranate Crush Lip Stain was used as blush.  On the eyes, Camelia Convertible Color, the Fandango duo shadow and the Cobalt Smudge Pot left a gorgeous wash of color.
The finishing touches were Camelia Convertible Color on the lips and a few coats of …read more

Beauty News: Stila Lives Another Day

Rumors of Stila’s demise have circulated the blogosphere for months but yesterday, Makeup Minute learned that Stila will indeed live another day!

The troubled brand has been acquired by private equity firm Patriarch Partners, making CEO Lynn Tilton the newest Stila Girl. Patriarch is said to “specialize in rebuilding companies that span across a broad spectrum of consumer and industrial sectors by providing innovative financial solutions, strategic direction and operational expertise.”
While Stila isn’t among my favorite brands, they do have a really girlish and whimsical appeal. It’ll be interesting to see if they can reinvent themselves successfully.  What do you think?

Stila Glosses Get Precious

If I had to choose a very favorite beauty product of all, it would undoubtedly be lip gloss. Thus, my standards are pretty darn high.  So when I say that Stila’s new Pearl Shimmer Glosses are a total WIN, trust me.  These glosses offer pearlescent sheen and shine with a super smooth, emollient delivery.
Genuine pearls are worked into Stila’s formula and add a subtle shimmer that helps to soften the appearance of fine lines and minor imperfections. The innovative formula, rich in emollient oils, esters and vitamins A, C and E, is long-wearing without feeling tacky or heavy.

Shades include:

Stila The Perfect Face Kit & Eye Shadow Trend

When I opened my newest catalog from Sephora, I came upon many pictures of models with these “extra dark” crease shadows placed near the bridge of the nose that looked something short of an extra eyebrow growing in the middle of your lids.
This particular picture was associated with Stila’s The Perfect Face Kit. The contents of the kit are fabulous including the Kitten eye shadow, black Smudge Pot, Mini liner brush, Multi-Effect mascara, Convertible Color in Lillium and Lip Glaze in Brown Sugar.
While I might want the kit, I don’t think I will be sporting any Star Trek looking “welcome …read more
