The Power of a Red Lip

It’s no secret that makeup is a major confidence builder, in and of itself. But as I get a bit older, I find that my tastes are changing…I’m putting aside the sweet pink glosses and the colorful eyeshadows for a bit of experimentation with a more classic, pin-up style. Recently, I’ve given a nude lip and a smokey eye a go. But a bold red lip remained out of reach – it was a little’ too TOO’, as I like to say.
But tonight, I attended a top secret video shoot at Dex New York, where I found the red lippie that just may have been made for me. Dubbed Carroll Street Ruby ($22), this rich, blue-toned hue made me feel like a new woman – (a flirtatious, ballsy woman) and I’m not exaggerating. The formula also lasted forever (in fact, it still looks flawless hours later) and didn’t transfer a trace of color to my champagne glass.
Lesson learned – don’t be afraid to take risks with makeup – it’s remarkably liberating. After all, if you don’t love it, it can be removed in an instant. No harm, no foul!

Red lips? What can I say? I agree as I have gotten older my pension for the bubblegum pink lips has gone away and I have moved to the red power lips. My favorite red is an orange red(blue red is not the color for me) My favorite red is Fire and Ice by Revlon.
I find red lipsticks hard to wear because you have to find the most perfect color or else it can look your worst. The factor of long-lasting also plays its role, it case the lipstick smudges and looks a mess on your face after an hour or two. But it seems that you have found your perfect color that also has staying power. Hold on to that one, it’s a rare pick that doesn’t come by so often. I have yet to find mine..
I have a red lipstick that I only wear on Special Occasions, why?! MAC has discontinued it. It was made for me and now its gone.
I have never cared for red lipstick on myself but I think it looks good on a lot of women, I prefer a lighter berry color.
