New Mascara: Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash

Call me slightly skeptical when a brand makes some stellar claims about a product, but also call me intrigued when that claim is by a very well-known brand. Bare Escentuals has just launched its newest mascara, Buxom Lash, which they claim will volumize lashes by 300%. Not 100%, not 200%, but 300%..I guess they’re not fooling around. Mascara is serious stuff.
I didn’t really have much luck with their Buxom Lip Plumper, but I’m not one to discount a brand or product based on the review of one item alone. So Buxom Lash will be on my after-Christmas shopping list to …read more

Get ready for the big Ô! Ôscillation, Lancôme’s vibrating powermascara, launches nationwide tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 22nd. The waiting list has topped the 21,000 mark! This is one of the most anticipated mascaras ever and for a good reason. From what I have heard from my beauty blogging friends, the results are nothing short of phenomenal.
The key to great results with Ôscillation is a certain application technique. Apply in slow, straight and steady strokes.
–Don’t zig-zag and don’t wiggle!
–Don’t overpump the wand. There’s plenty of product on there for multiple coats.
–If at first you don’t succeed…don’t give up! Ôscillation takes a few …read more

Xtreme Lashes, known for their amazing eyelash extrensions, also has a mascara meant to be used whether you have extensions or you want to have the look of thicker lashes. I’ve been wearing their Xtreme Length & Enhancing Mascara for about a week and a half to see if I feel it is any different than what I typically wear.
The cool thing about this mascara is that a brush and lash separator are attached at the top of the tube in an easy to access compartment. As you can tell from this picture, my lashes do look thicker, slightly curled …read more
Curling Your Lashes with Heat

I’m a big scaredy cat when it comes to curling my lashes. Period. But “double” curling them with the addition of heat? Yikes! Personally I have zero interest in putting heat near my eyeballs or taking the chance that I will fry my beautiful long lashes, but I know that there are those of you who are a better woman than I am and will go to any lengths for beauty. To those about to (heat) curl your lashes–I salute you.
Artemis Woman’s Double Curl Gentle Heat Lash Curler ($24.99) will be available this summer and is a battery operated heat …read more

Blended lashes? Not so much.
“I’d like to know how to apply false eyelashes to make them not so false-looking. In other words, how can you make them blend in more naturally with your regular lashes, and what type of eyeliner/shadow should you wear with them. ” Kori E. (ShoeBlitz)
As with last week’s photo–this is not Kori! If it was I’d probably put a black privacy line across her eyes after I had a good laugh for myself.
If you’ve learned the art of applying false lashes and giving them the look of being real, please share your tips with Kori in …read more

Prescriptives Here To Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara

I just received Prescriptives newest mascara “Here To Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara” (try saying that 10x fast) and I’m loving it.
What they promise:
* Lifts, defines lashes
* Long lasting color
* Smudge-resistant
* Ultra-comfortable
* Waterproof
Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of waterproof mascara’s. Really…I’m not. They always make my lashes feel brittle and can be a pain to wash off. I’ve actually never associated “ultra-comfortable” with waterproof mascara and kind of scoffed at the thought of it when I saw Prescriptives product promise.
So imagine my surprise when I applied this mascara, only to have my lashes feel …read more
MAC Cosmetics Zoom Lash

MAC Cosmetics newest mascara, Zoom Lash, is part of their Fall collection: Blue Storm. It is a rich black and is only available until October 2007.
Zoom Lash has an interesting wand. The bristles part of the wand is longer in length (vertically) when compared to other mascara’s I have used and the bristles are also much shorter.
The mascara itself is thick and does at first apply clumpy. However, due to the way the wand is made, a shimmy here and there as you sweep upward easily resolves that issue. Zoom Lash curls your lashes and is also smudge-free. Not only …read more
