Everyone wants their skin to look flawless, but of course life likes to throw us curve balls–a blemish here, an age spot there, redness there. This is when I am happy someone brilliant out there invented concealer. (Thank you concealer gods!) Back in September I heard about Smart Cover (not to be confused with Sheer Cover) that says it can conceal everything from a birthmark to dark circles under the eyes.
In full disclosure I have met the owner of Smart Cover, Flori Roberts (the blonde in the picture), at a dinner I attended back in September. Let me tell you …read more

Redpoint seems to have created 3 beauty fixes all in one product! NOC-Out Cover Up Compact aims to help you cover up:
1. Under eye circles
2. Splotchy red skin
3. Age and sun spots.
NOC, which stands for “Neutralize, Obliterate and Conceal” does just that in creating a flawless look to your skin and hiding all of those imperfections that no one needs to know about.
I’m already used to wearing yellow concealer for around my nose, my eye lids and any blemishes and cover up for under my eyes, but what sealed the deal for me was the salmon colored concealer actually working …read more
Jemma Kidd On Set Mattifying Powder

No matter what time of year it is, my face has that annoying shine to it. I hate it. I loathe it. With increased picture taking during these upcoming Holidays, I cringe at the thought of how my face will look. I hate being that girl who says, “Can we take that picture again?” simply because I want a few options to pick the least shiny pic. You too? Well thank the heavens for Jemma Kidd because I scooped up her On Set Mattifying Powder at Target last week and it is a good temporary solution to the whole shine …read more

The closest I have gotten to the sun this summer is looking out my office window. It’s August and I am sadly still as pale as I was in December. I’ve heard of Benefit’s Talk to the Tan, but honestly? When I got it and put a dollop of the very dark lotion in my hand, I hesitated to put it on my face. But I took a deep breath and applied it to find that the results were actually pretty nice.
Can’t really tell that I am truly porcelin, can you? The color is buildable, as well. If you want …read more
Kryolan Launches New Line – HDTV Makeup

Did you know that by 2009, all television broadcasters will have to switch to HDTV? Typically this change would only affect Hollywood, but with HD camcorders already available on the consumer market, it’s only a matter of time before our holiday souvenirs are recorded on an HD camera.
HD means we have to worry about every wrinkle, pockmark, and shadow. The naked eye might not see any imperfections on your skin but the HD camera won’t miss a flaw. While the technology has been rapidly growing, the beauty industry has been in dire need of makeup exclusively geared towards solving …read more
Product Find: It Cosmetics

It Cosmetics wasn’t something I stumbled upon on my own, a reader (thanks Renee!) brought it to my attention. It Cosmetics is waterproof makeup to enhance or hide certain aspects of your body. According to the site, the different techniques applied when using the makeup can define your abs, minimize or enhance your chest, minimize cellulite (yes please) conceal your double chin and so on.
The pictures are pretty amazing and the CEO has been the makeup artist to such shows as Baywatch (so that’s why Pam Anderson’s boobs looked ginormous) and Miss USA.
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I believe …read more
How to Make Your Eyes Look Brighter & Wider

Between Leo at Lancome and Chad at Three Custom Color Specialists, I picked up a few tips on how to make my eyes appear brighter and wider. Something I always noticed in pictures is that when I smile, my eyes seem to look a bit squinty and small.
1-Do not apply mascara to your bottom lashes. This only “closes” up your eyes.
2-Use a light colored shadow near the inner corner of your eye.
3-Use a flesh colored liner on the inner rim of your lower lid and also a small dab at the inner corner of your eye. Flesh colored works better …read more

Benefit Cosmetics “Justine Case”

It seems that California Kissin was a one hit wonder, soon to be miniturized and is now part of the “Justine Case” Wrapped and Ready product category of Benefit Cosmetics. I’ve had California Kissin (in the “old” full size version) for a while and feel mixed about it…
California Kissin is Benefit’s “fake it” gloss for whiter looking teeth. It’s a clear gloss with lots of blue shimmer. Its minty scent and taste will keep you feeling like you just brushed your teeth (or you just have some Colgate Total action going on).
The mint isn’t a bad thing, just not expected …read more

The one thing I hear most often when you have a newborn in your midst is, “You look so worn out.” Yes, only 2 hours of sleep a night will do that to you. Cheri at Urban Apothecary mentioned to me that a few sweeps of her Mineral Sheer Radiance across my face will perk my complexion up, basically hiding the fact that I was one sleep deprived momma.
My Mineral Sheer Radiance is in Dream, which is a pale pink in color. This is a product you apply as a finishing touch over your foundation or you can wear it …read more
