Win This: Maybelline Great Lash BIG + More!

Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara is a cult favorite and with good reason – it’s a great mascara at an even better price. The brand is now launching Great Lash BIG, a new mascara with the same amazing formula but a BIGGER brush that hits every lash.
To create the commercial for Great Lash Big, Maybelline took a unique approach! BIG, the Great Lash Big mascot, trekked the streets of NYC to find charismatic, aspiring women to make a big impression (and appear in the Great Lash Big Gig)! Take a look at the some behind-the-scenes footage here, along with the final advert:

Leaving Makeup Minute and Passing the Torch

My wonderful beautiful readers of Makeup Minute. I have been procrastinating on this post for a few days now. I tell you this with great sadness in my heart, but today is my last day writing Makeup Minute. It was a tough decision, but there is a lot going on in my life right now and I can only focus on so many things, some being my 4 beautiful sons and own blog A Girl’s Gotta Spa! which brought me to this great company in the first place. I know that whoever will be taking my place will fill this …read more

New Mascara: Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash

Call me slightly skeptical when a brand makes some stellar claims about a product, but also call me intrigued when that claim is by a very well-known brand. Bare Escentuals has just launched its newest mascara, Buxom Lash, which they claim will volumize lashes by 300%. Not 100%, not 200%, but 300%..I guess they’re not fooling around. Mascara is serious stuff.
I didn’t really have much luck with their Buxom Lip Plumper, but I’m not one to discount a brand or product based on the review of one item alone. So Buxom Lash will be on my after-Christmas shopping list to …read more

Lancome’s Oscillation Hits Stores October 22

Lancome’s Oscillation Hits Stores October 22

Get ready for the big Ô! Ôscillation, Lancôme’s vibrating powermascara, launches nationwide tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 22nd. The waiting list has topped the 21,000 mark! This is one of the most anticipated mascaras ever and for a good reason. From what I have heard from my beauty blogging friends, the results are nothing short of phenomenal.
The key to great results with Ôscillation is a certain application technique. Apply in slow, straight and steady strokes.
–Don’t zig-zag and don’t wiggle!
–Don’t overpump the wand. There’s plenty of product on there for multiple coats.
–If at first you don’t succeed…don’t give up! Ôscillation takes a few …read more

Have you tried it: Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara

Just when I think that every mascara out there is either using the traditional wand or the new plastic molded wands…I come across Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes Mascara. Have you seen this mascara wand? I had to do a double take and make sure that it was indeed mascara that I was looking at.
I’m thinking of buying it, but it appears the reviews seem to indicate that the mascara wand itself is the “Phenomen” and the mascara is less than stellar.
Have you tried it yourself? Is it worth the $27 to get the most amazing lashes ever? If you have it, tell …read more

L’Oreal Bare Naturale Luminous Lengthening Mascara

L’Oreal Bare Naturale Luminous Lengthening Mascara

I’ve been wearing L’Oreal’s Bare Naturale Luminous Mascara a lot lately. Prior to swiping across my lashes, I really didn’t read up on it and automatically thought “Bare Naturale” was more atune to meaning a more natural looking lash. However, a good portion of the mascara is mineral-enriched and made from natural-origin ingredients with a natural-based brush.
This mascara did a great job lengthening and adding volume to my lashes, and although there weren’t necessarily any clumps, my lashes did bunch together–but were easily separated with the brush.
So what do you think of the results?

Besame Cosmetics Gingerbread 1930s Waterproof Mascara

Besame Cosmetics has come out with Gingerbread 1930s Waterproof Mascara, a classic mascara the consists of natural conditioning oils and food grade colorants. The natural-only ingredients come presented in the Besame signature gold plated packaging decorated with Chrysanthemums.
Even though this formula is waterproof it doesn’t leave that brittle feeling on your lashes like typical waterproof mascaras. To get any volume you do have to apply several coats. Initially lashes do look defined, but as I tried to get a more voluminous look by applying more mascara, the mascara seemed to gather at the base of my lash line.

So why would …read more

Bionic Mascara?

Bionic Mascara?

Yes, with a clear question mark. When I came across an ad from Smashbox for their new mascara with claims of being “bionic” I clearly dismissed it and said, “Whaaa?“
“BIONIC is the first-ever ionic formula mascara. The primary ingredient in BIONIC is a chain molecule with a positive charge. The friction caused by sweeping the mascara brush across lashes causes a negative charge. Since opposites attract, the positively charged formula adheres to the negatively charged lashes for a dramatic effect that lasts all day.” (As described on Smashbox’s product page)
Maybe I am the only one, but that sounds a little …read more
