Eye Color-Enhancing Mascaras: Are They Worth the Fuss?

Eye color-enhancing mascaras. Nearly every makeup line has added one lately (like Cover Girl’s Exact Eyelights, seen here), but are they worth all the fuss?
I must say, I am completely intrigued. The thought of using light reflectors to illuminate one’s complexion is certainly commonplace in the cosmetics world these days, but does the same thought process hold true for mascara as well? Can these formulas really make my baby blues more babyish? I really want to know!
True, I could run out and buy any number of these things at a drugstore and it’ll only set me back somewhere in the …read more

Be sure to weigh in on the new poll I have up in the sidebar. I’d love to know where you look first to research a beauty product you are thinking of buying–beauty mag, beauty blog, both or neither. (If the latter then I would have to wonder what you are here for besides my charm and wit?!)
After you cast your vote, feel free to post a comment here with your thoughts about your answer. Personally, I go to beauty blogs only and the ones I trust (see sidebar of beauty links).

Looking for your opinion

Can I ask your opinion? I’m getting ready for my fundraiser where I’ll be auctioning off tons of MAC and other beauty goodies. I think the tally comes to maybe $1000 or $2000 worth of stuff (that’s a guesstimate). What do you think the max dollar amount of “retail value” should be for each basket? I’m nervous if the retail value is too high, it won’t get high bids, whereas if it seems lower, it will. Ie. A basket worth $300 might get higher bids than if it was worth $600. I’m going to break it down to 4 auctions …read more

When I was backstage at Jason Wu’s show for Fashion Week, MAC’s MUA Gina Bettelli was giving a great tip for catching that residual eyeshadow that sometimes sprays off your lid and onto the area below your eye–wet a round cotton pad and hold it under your eye as you apply the eye shadow. I remember thinking it was a great tip, but thought that there had to be a better way. I’m not coordinated as it is, so holding a cotton pad under my eye while using the other hand to apply my eyeshadow is a disaster waiting to …read more

I’m writing this at 10:30pm and at this time Thursday morning I will be enroute to NYC. I don’t know which I am more excited about–having so many adventures with all of the things I have planned or doing it all with some of my favorite beauty bloggers. There’s so many of us coming into the city and I hope you’ll find a bunch of girls blogging at Fashion Week through my blogroll.
Now be advised that I will be doing on camera interviews for the very first time. Aside from my mom taking awkward videos of me when I didn’t …read more
