From 2001 to now, Johnny Cupcakes has developed a cult-like following around the globe.
His journey into the fashion business hasn’t exactly been a cakewalk. In high school he was the class clown. Just to get by, he would sell candy to his classmates. Originally the designs for Johnny Cupcakes were just for fun, but little did he know, something big was in store.
While on the road with his band, fans of the group ,On Broken Wings, would often ask where they could purchase Johnny Cupcake t-shirts.
Making a difficult decisions, Johnny decided to put the music lifestyle on hold and put 100% into the Johnny Cupcake business.
His dream finally become a reality. The store made its grand debut on Newbury Street, the same street that’s shared with famous designers like Marc Jacobs and Chanel. An overwhelming 600 costumers-some who were from Canada- came out opening night.
Showing that the jokester side of him hasn’t left, Johnny decided that the store should be Bakery-themed. Almost all of the limited t-shirts are in stored bakery boxes. On select days and weekends, Johnny and his workers give cupcakes with each purchase.
