Introducing The Nike LunaRacer

Nike, who is well known for their sportswear and equipment, recently unveiled their latest offering: the Nike LunaRacer. The Nike LunaRacer made it’s grand debut in Fall 2008, and is now the latest addition to the new LIVESTRONG collection. The company states the innovative shoe is “lighter, faster and stronger” thanks to two materials; Flywire and Lunarlite foam. Proceeds will go to the LiveStrong Foundation. The LiveStrong Foundation is founded by cancer survivor and World cycling champion Lance Armstrong. The organization is doing its best to inform those and help fight cancer across the globe. ArmStrong and Nike teamed together back in 2004 to create the Livestrong wristband, which has sold more than seventy million to date.
“Lance is a cancer survivor and one of the world’s greatest athletes,” said Mark Parker, Nike Inc.’s President and CEO. “Lance is a symbol of hope against adversity for everyone. In 2004 Nike created the LIVESTRONG wristband which has sold more than 70 million pieces to date and helped raise millions. Nike is proud to continue supporting the LIVESTRONG campaign with this new collection where all Nike’s profits from the collection will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.”
Lance Armstrong expressed his gratitude toward Nike, stating the company helped him throughout his fight with Cancer:
“Nike has supported me since the beginning of my career, and throughout my fight against cancer,” Armstrong said. “They have helped the Lance Armstrong Foundation become what it is today by creating the LIVESTRONG wristband. I’m proud to be part of the next chapter with Nike launching the new LIVESTRONG Collection, with 100 percent of the profits going to the LAF.”
