Alpha Industries Launches Spring Collection

The iconic military jackets brought this all American brand to the forefront. I’m talking about the Alpha Industries. The long running brand was appointed personally by The United States Department of Defense to design jackets for soldiers during harsh weather conditions.

Fashion experts began to take notice of the jackets that were designed by Alpha Industries. Proven to be popular the “military” style made it’s transition over to the fashion scene. We’ve seen countless designers over the years incorporate army designs into their designs. Take Marc Jocabs, Army Hoody for example.

DYK: Did you know that in order to for Alpha Industries to keep their factories operating and keep using materials used to designs, they had to create a replacement label with three single black bars? With the labels they were able to differentiate the ones being used in the army versus the ones being sold in surplus stores.

Key collections sold under Alpha Industries include jackets, shirts, shorts, and pants.

The Custom T-shirt is part of Alpha Industries Spring/Summer 09 Collection. On the front it reads: Remove From Flight. Material used for the custom tee: Super-soft distressed cotton.

He’s set to star alongside Jennifer Garner in the romantic comedy Ghost of Girlfriend’s Past in May, but for now he’s featured In Style’s magazine as their Man of Style. The Texas native opens up about his fashion choices, reminisces about childhood, and turning the big 40.

Describe Your Looks Growing Up?

I was a short, bumpy kid. I still have a backside on me and a bit of a waddle, but I was even shorter-legged then. I’d put on jeans, then roll up the cuffs, tuck in the shirt..and oh, no! But when you’re wearing it and feel good you’re like. “Yeah, look at what I’ve got!”.

What’s Your fashion philosophy now?

I think all fashion should start with practicality. I’m very active, whether traveling, going to my office, grabbing a run, taking out Levi and Camila. I don’t want to change fives a day, so I’ll pack something for all my meetings-maybe start with a good pair of jeans, then change tops. Or bring a nice suit. Even on the road in the Airstream. I keep a classic black Dolce and Gabbanna Suit-I can wear it wherever.

What’s your go-to pair of jeans?

Levis work for me. When I was a kid, we were not allowed to buy Calvin Klein or Jordache. We had JC Penny plain pockets and were told, “Wear those until they stand up by themselves.”

Whose style do you admire?

I sure did admire Viggo Mortensen’s red vest from awards season last year. It’s great when it doesn’t look like you are trying, and yet pull it off.
