Esmod Seoul graduate Juun J. is a innovator in his own right. Junn J. launched his first collection in 1999. His highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2010 introduces audiences to his signature and dramatic outwear. It’s been stated on a number of occasions that Junn J. likes to overlap his knitwear, outwear and other pieces. Only gentlemen with true confidence and debonair could pull off Junn J’s F/W collection.

Boris Bidjan Saberi Fall Winter 09/10

Germany designer Boris Bidjan Saberi originally started off as an accessories designer. As time progressed, Boris had the opportunity to finally launch of a menswear line of his own in 2006. It’s ever so clear that Boris Bidjan Saberi Fall/Winter Collection will more than likely keep you warm for the cold season. Boris Bidjan Saberi designs in this particular collection can best be described as “dark meets street”. The new F/W from Saberi offers men stylish and sleek Blazers, Peacoats, and shawls.

The RUDSAK Man at Toronto Fashion Week

While covering LG Toronto Fashion Week I was disappointed by the lack of men’s style. There were a handful of stylish dudes in the audience but it was on the runways that were lacking.

And then there was the RUDSAK show and I quickly bit my tongue. These men were stylish, sexy, and exactly how I want men around me to dress!

If any man has any doubt about his style I would suggest turning to RUDSAK because they know what’s up.

Take a tip from any of these models and know that less is more. Simplicity with a touch of bright red will make any man stand out.

These red pants are pretty daring and I don’t recommend them to the faint at heart. None the less they look great with that beige jacket and the slim fit is very stylish. These could easily be dressed up or down!

RUDSAK is known in Canada for their great jackets. The quality is excellent and the designs are timeless. A purchase you would never get sick of.

This is also a company that specializes in great bags/totes and footwear. Although I didn’t get the best pictures of the models shoes I assure you that they were very laid back yet modern looking.

I love this bag!

Actually this whole outfit is awesome!

I was a bit worried for Canadian men’s fashion but RUDSAK saved the day. I hope to see men sporting these looks this coming Spring!

Big winners at the 61st Annual Primetime Emmys were Bryan Cranston for his role in AMC’s Breaking Bad and Best Actress went to veteran Glenn Close for her role in the dramatic TV series Damages.

Lack of Inspiration to Blame for Low Sales?

Loden Dager, Rag & Bone, Thom Browne and Duckie Brown were the handful designers out to display their collections at New York Fashion Week.

There seems to be a certain something missing in mens fashion today. Lack of inspiration maybe? Many critics have been askingthis question for a while now. Are designers afraid to go against the mold? Until someone rises to the occasion and decides to step out the box- Mens fashion will continue to loom in the shadows.

Interestingly enough it’s not just the states were Mens fashion is being overlooked. In India first attempt at Mens Fashion Week. The Dawn reports that over fifteen shows by 21 different were held. Still, the people that attended the three-day event didn’t place a single order.

In a excerpt taken from The Indian Frez Dial, a representative of the retail chain Aza Men remains hopeful telling the Indian:

“We have been retailing garments from most of the designers through our stores for a long time now. So I am here to just give moral support to this good initiative”.

“This fashion week has happened at the right time and it is a wonderful opportunity for young designers as well.”

In my opinion I think some male designers are limited in what they can do and often can’t take many risk as the women. What do you think about the current state of Men’s Fashion? Discuss in the comments section

It was a unforgettable night in New York. The 2009 MTV Music Awards was filled with excitement and controversy which took place Radio Music City hall, Sunday night. But before the 2009 MTV Music Awards could kick into high gear, we were treated to celebrities walking down the red carpet.

So sit back as I review the male attendees for one of the most important nights in music.

After tonight. Kanye West can officially call himself the King of Controversy. The rap superstar stepped on the red carpet wearing a leather v-neck, distressed jeans and black belt. Maybe the bottle of alcohol was a sign of things to come?

Menswear from Milan Fashion Week S/S 10

When it comes to Milan Fashion Week it’s all about the hottest clothing and accessories in fashion. For the Spring and Summer season, designers from all over the world- from Dolce and Gabbana to Vivienne Westwood, come out to showcase their much anticipated collections. The top name brand designers are pulling out all the stops at this year’s prestigious event. After viewing several collections, my favorite from the runway thus far would have to be Designer Gianfranco Ferre’s S/S 10 Collection.

What makes the collection a winner in my eyes are the jackets which are incredibly sleek and modern. I notice on most runways that some designers tend to put on a more of a show than actually showing off the designs. Looking at Ferre’s designs, I can actually seeing myself wearing the jackets. Though the collection is near perfect, my only gripe is the lack of color.

The late fashion designer often went against the mold of how fashion was supposed to be presented and because of that he was a top French fashion brand. Gianfranco Ferre established his first Men’s collection in the early 80’s. Over his career, Ferre went on to win several awards for his couture collection and had his line distributed in hundreds of stores worldwide.

On Thursday Fashion Week is heading to Paris. Stay tuned for more great designs.

Pitti Immagine Uomo is one of the most important fashion exhibits in the world. Some of the most elite fashions designers come out and showcase work for the much awaited 2010 spring/summer season. Fashion Connoisseurs need not worry because I can guarantee you won’t be let down this year. You can expect from the big extravaganza is some familiar faces as well as newcomers.

and for the first time ever New York based menswear line Brooks Brothers will participate in the Uomo Fashion exhibit. Other big names include: Brunello Cucinelli, Rowland Brothers, and Christopher Fischer.

Highlights from the 76th annual event include a preview of Jun Takahashi’s much buzzed about street wear collection, Undercover.

Jun Takahashi has already been declared as fashion’s next big thing. This year Takahashi’s is keeping the fashion to a minimum. Believe it or not inspired by German industrial designer Dieter Ram. He tells MenStyle about the encounter that two had while in Toyko:

“I’m a collector of his Braun products,” Takahashi said, “I met him at the end of last month when he was in Tokyo for his retrospective. He came to my studio and looked through my sketchbook and said he liked it. What I do is casual daily clothes, not too much fashion, but with hidden functionalism in an Undercover way. What we perceived from Rams is the simple but beautiful touch that exists after discarding unnecessity.”

Undercover will be made avaliable to consumers in September.

Daniele Alessandrini’s S/S 09 Lookbook

Italian designer Daniele Alessandrini always sets his standards high when it comes to creating pieces for his line. I’ve taken a look at the both the look-books for S/S and Fall/Winter line, and I have say the Spring/Summer items are far superior. Daniele Alessandrini’s strong points lie within his denim wear. Rather than taking the easy route with his denim trousers, Alessandrini instead takes a different approach, adding dramatic prints on the legs of the jean.

For example, take what this male model is wearing- a denim trouser. This dynamic piece has been given the ruff and rugged treatment, and the addition of the holes are a nice touch. Paired with this trouser is a stylish leather jacket, t-shirt, and sneakers. The overall outfit would work great as a an everyday look.

My favorite item from this look is the extremely versatile tan leather jacket. As a whole, the leather jacket really compliments the dusty denim trouser. Another simple look that could be incorporated into your everyday style.

This last look reflects a timeless style. A casual and lightly button up t-shirt, paired with khaki trousers.

Designer Spotlight: Rebecca Overman

A graduate from Savannah Graduate College of Art and Design, San Franciso based designer Rebecca Overman has been creating men and women’s jewelery for over fifteen years now. Her first collection made it’s grand debut in 1999. Her signature necklaces, rings and cuff links are enameled in 18k gold, sterling-silver and diamonds. Timeless and Unique are two words that can best describe Overman’s line.

Proven to be a hit with the fashion world, Rebecca Overman’s accessory line has been featured on the inside pages of prominent magazines such as DNR, In World, Lucky, and Marie Claire.

One of the standouts from Rebecca Overman’s collection is the is this sterling silver ring. The design on the exterior of the ring are craters. It’s currently priced at $208. Ring Sizes: 8,9,10.

The Wheel Ring($198), Facets Ring($198), and Square Ring($198) are all sterling silver. Each ring was given a simple clean look with a smooth antique finish. Ring sizes: 8,9,10.

The Large Tooth Necklace($187) and Small Tool Necklace($148) really showcase Overman’s work as a metal smith. What’s not to love about them. Both necklaces are flawlessly crafted and the hints of rust on the body makes this a winner. The chains of the sterling silver necklaces are extended up to 20 inches.

Another necklace that caught my eye was the Facet Necklace($159) I really love the tarnished look that Sarah was going for with this necklace and again the shape is perfectly crafted. The chain on the Facet necklace is resizable.

Highlights from Japan Fashion Week

The 8th Japan Fashion(JFW) week went out on high note this past Saturday. Located in Toyko, Japan, the lavish one week event was created as a way to allow up-and-coming fashion designers to showcase their designs. Thanks to the SHINMAI Creator’s Project, held last Monday, over five designer brands were chosen. The event was held at Tokyo Midtown Hall Hall A. For those of who you aren’t aware of what Shainmai means, it stands “new rice” in Japanese, it’s used a metaphor to describe potential talent.

Shida Tatsuya, a 2001 graduate of Nagoya Mode Gakuen, was one of the five designers chosen from the Shanmai Creator’s Project. The thirty year old designer also happened to design the Army of No! Jacket priced at $114. The elaborate jacket has four exterior pockets on the body, it’s also embellished in some quirky pattens.

The French duo Ly-Ling Vilaysane& Adrien Escaravage Aethere(e) had the privilege to showcase their clothing brand as well. Aethere(e) received praise for their cutting edge designs. When it came to the clothing for men, they focal point was tailored jackets with loud accents.

He wasn’t part of the Shinmai Project, he did however did take part in this years Fashion Week. For his Fall line, designer Kazuhiro Takakura focused heavily zipper jackets and sleek pants suits. Izreel has been in business since 2003, Kazuhiro Takakura also has two other brands named Fuctor and Biglidue.
