You ever just go to bed and after the next morning of waking up you see a random bump on your face? You ask yourself “Why of All Days is this happening”.

About right now, I’m starting to sound a lot like the people advertised the Neutrogena or Proactive commercials. But believe me these this thing do happen. And when the do you have to be prepared. I know that having something bothersome as bump on your face is the last thing that you want to see.

Even if a bump does come up from time to time, I don’t get discouraged. Because I know that it’ll eventually disappear. I do, have a few over the counter products that will serve well in case of emergencies.

Dr. Sheffield's ClearZit Acne Cream

I used to be one of these people that had a certain perception about certain items. If its inexpensive it obviously doesn’t work. This was my initial thought when I laid eyes on the Clear Zit by Sheffield Laboratories. The Clear Zit tube is literally no bigger than the palm of my hand. The Clear Zit is made of 10% Benzoyl Peroxide and promises to dry and clean skin.

Best tip when using Clear Zit: When you introduce your skin to a new product,always use with caution.

Apply a even coating of the mask, and let it dry for no longer than fifteen minutes. After the fifteen minutes are over, wash the mask off with warm water.

Metrotstylemen: I first want to know, how did you get your start as a stylist?

Dean: As a child I was always interested in fashion; a lot of it came from my mother. Looking back at early photos from the late 60s/early 70s, she had me dressed in some pretty fashion-forward outfits for a child! In my last few years at school, I realized my strengths were going to be best suited working in a creative field. It was the early 80s, a crazy time for hairdressing and I wanted to be part of it.

Dean: There has definitely been a lean towards wearing growth on your face to various degrees especially in NY. Combined with some quite tailored haircuts with a side part, there has even been a hint of the mustache incorporated into this look, especially around the lower east side of Manhattan. It’s all tied in with skinny hipster jeans/trousers, check shirts and often a trilby style hat — this is a very downtown look. On a more commercial tip, I think men are wearing a slightly more casual, less groomed look with hair and facial hair. This is not to say that they are spending less time maintaining it. This started as a high fashion look, but as a consequence of the recession, guys are taking the opportunity to go for a more casual look.

Metrotstylemen: You’re a well known stylist to the stars. Who has been your favorite client to work with thus far?

Dean: Having worked in all corners of the globe from London to Melbourne and New York, I have worked with a slew of international stars such as Kylie Minogue, Stevie Nicks and Claudia Schiffer. In New York, I have worked on reality TV shows such as Make Me a Super Model, She’s Got the Look, Project Runway and I Want to be P Diddy’s PA as well as doing makeovers on the Rachael Ray Show. The stars are all great to work with, but at the end of the day it’s all about my regular clients.

It’s similar to the Stubble Trimmer in that it is designed to trim your facial hair at various lengths but it has a vacuum that sucks the cut hair into a transparent chamber that you can easily empty after each grooming session, making it my girlfriend’s favorite product too!

Also the 2030 Bodygroom+ is pretty amazing; I have used it to trim my chest hair. Personally I don’t go for a clean body shave, but it would be excellent for cyclists or swimmers who want a completely hairless finish. Then there’s the Nose, Ear & Eyebrow Trimmer. Now that I’ve hit my 40s, hair is starting to grow either in the wrong places or  growing let’s say strangely long in places. So this tool helps to keep me looking in my 30s!

I am also using the Power Hair Clipper as my neck trimmer at work; it’s great!

Nivea For Men Active 3 Body Wash-Body Shaving and Shampoo

The newest product from Nivea is dermatologist tested and approved. This product weights in at 16.9 oz.

I’ll admit I don’t really use body wash. No particular reason. Just haven’t had any real desire to use them.

I absolutely loathe strong scents, as my nose is very sensitive. But it was nice to know that there was a nice balance with the Nivea For Men Active 3. Funny thing, I kept smelling the bottle several times, it had a familiar scent which I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Nonetheless, it was a enjoyable one.

You can use a bath sponge or wash cloth-your choice. I went with a basic washcloth. All you need really is a little dab and you’re set.

The shower gel is easy to wash off, and my skin didn’t feel oily afterward. Even better is that the gel has a nice after smell.

I decided that if I couldn’t shave(not enough facial hair) the least I could do was try it out on my hair. Again, a little dab is all you need. I suggest using a shower comb to help get hard to reach spots in the hair.

I’d definitely recommend this. For only $6.00 You can’t beat it. Using the Nivea 3 Active Body Wash, helps save you time and cash. Not to mention it leaves your skin feeling smooth and dirt free afterward.

The Look: The Gillett Blades comes in a nice Green/Black color. It’s very thin( probably half the size of a normal razor) with the “Gillette” brand stamped on the back.

The Process: Before I began, I wet my skin with cool water. Afterward, I applied a little dab of Hydra Gel-a light blue foam that helps later the skin.

On a side note the Hydra Gel smells nice.

I ran the razor over the running water, and carefully went to work. The Gillette razor glides like a dream, I was impressed at how smooth the blade felt against my skin. After all was said and done, my skin didn’t feel irritable and there were no razor bumps in sight.

Aftermath:To finish off this process, I used the Hydra Gel Aftershave. In my opinion, the Aftershave is a bit overwhelming, but in general most are. I will say, that it left my skin feeling calm.

The precision trimmer is a nifty little tool to helps tackles hard to reach places. The Precision Trimmer is best used to shape up your beard, side burns, and under your nose.

Final Verdict: All in all, if you want something that’s cost effective and helps you get the job done in an instant, then I recommend Gillette Fusion blade. The process was fairly quick, and wasn’t time consuming- thankfully. With that being said, this products gets a thumbs up from me.
