7 Organic Must-Haves

If you’re healthy on the inside, that absolutely translates to how you look on the outside. We’ve talked this topic to death here I know. I am in no way an “organic” junkie when it comes to food. If I can get it local that’s great. If we can get it local and organic, that’s even better. If I can only get local I’m okay with that. Heck I’m even okay with a diet that’s at least 60% fresh, local produce. I’d rather my son eat an apple, even if it’s not organic, than a box of goldfish crackers. Planet Green has a great article on the 7 things that you should probably only buy organic. It’s a nice list for the average family (hello isn’t that everyone?) that just can’t afford or even access a completly organic produce and dairy diet. The only thing on the list I think is crap is babyfood. There’s really no reason to buy jarred babyfood and once you get down to it, the benefits of organic over conventional is silly. It’s already bland, overpriced and overprocessed. I wouldn’t eat a diet based entirely on jarred or canned foods, powdered milk and gerber puffs and expect that to be healthy. Instead steam some fruits and veggies, puree it, freeze it and pull a serving out as needed for baby. There problem solved. Otherwise great go-to list. Your thoughts?

  1. I agree that just making your own baby food is much more natural and is good for your baby. Why buy the jarred kind when you can know exactly what you are putting into your baby’s food.

It really is very easy, quick and cheap. My son’s favorite was cauliflower. Just lovely steamed and pureed cauliflower. Can’t get that in a jar.
