Welcome to Earth Month 2007. April is here, and Aveda has made this month a month to “Make clean water a human right”.
Did you know that every 15 seconds a child dies from lack of access to clean water? This absolutely sickens me, and I am so grateful to Aveda for making us aware of this.
Aveda’s goal is to raise $1,800,000 for organizations around the world working to support and preserve clean water. The campaign operates on both global and local levels.
Funds from the campaign will benefit Aveda’s Earth Month partner, Global Greengrants Fund, as well as local and regional organizations in individual countries. Dedicated to environmental justice and sustainability, Global Greengrants Fund provides small grants to grassroots environmental groups around the world. Aveda’s Earth Month contribution will help support Global Greengrants’ numerous clean water projects around the world. Funds raised from network salons’ “Appointments for the Earth” will be directed to local/regional organizations who are working to reduce water pollution, water waste, and raise awareness of water issues.
A simple way to get involved in Earth Month is to simply purchase an Aveda Lights the Way to Clean Water 2007 Limited Edition Earth Month Candle for just $10. This Earth Month Candle is a limited edition soy wax candle with an aroma of certified organic Bulgarian lavender oil. And besides it being great smelling, 100% of the proceeds goes to its Earth Month partner, Global Greengrants Fund, in support of numerous clean water projects.
You may purchase this Earth Month Candle at Aveda Salons, Spas, and Stores. To locate your nearest Aveda, click here.
