Bindi Irwin, Eco-Fashion Designer

With every Jessica (as in Sarah and Simpson), Paris, Olsen twin, and Amanda Bynes (this one truly baffles me!) getting in on the celebrity-turned-fashion-designer bandwagon, why shouldn’t Bindi Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter’s cute as a button daughter?
Bindi launched an eco-friendly kids’ clothing line in Las Vegas at Magic, the world’s largest trade show, last week.
Bindi herself hit the catwalk and strutted her stuff for the potential department store buyers.
The most amazing part? 100% of the profits from The Bindi Wear International Fashion Line will go towards supporting conservation programs run by the Australia Zoo.
Bindi worked with the Australian kiddie fashion design team Three Monsters to produce the 130 piece line.
“They are clothes with a message,’ Bindi said in Las Vegas, where the line was launched. “We’re getting just further and further away from animals. If we keep making them into boots, bags and belts what are we going to be left with?”
The line, which consists of t-shirts, jumpers, swimwear, sleepwear, hats, bags and shoes, comes with embellishments like recycled cardboard tags, recycled rubber soles for shoes.
The line will be available in Australia in February and should show up in American department stores shortly after.

Well, based on this post I may return the link love sooner than expected — what a great story! That is almost unheard of 100% going to green causes. Very cool and from a kid. I always knew the next gen will take over the planet for the better.
it’s great, isn’t it? i love bindi to bits. she seems like such a good kid.
Hey, Erin: I just found this blog. very nice. Are you coming back to Keetsa or what?
Bindi is too cute and i love her statement to the press on, “if we keep turning animals into bag,s belts, and shoes, what will we have left”. she sounds smart, too. hehe.
Like Jennifer said above, 100% of profits? hmmmn how will they stay afloat to operate?
Talk to you soon.
Missy.
hey missy,
I’m pretty sure that the Steve Irwin foundation (or whatever it’s called!) will fund the operation until it becomes self sustaining. The Irwins have pretty good financial support.
cheers,
erin.
