I’m back, sorry about the hiatus. Computer problems galore however now I have lots to share with you. I know we talk a lot here about soaps and other frivolities. Hygiene is such a large part of our day in this and many other countries. The thing is though to many people soap is not a necessity, it’s a luxury. If washing your hands each time after using the toilet (or wherever one might do one’s business) is unrealistic, than how much energy would you expend on finding an eco-friendly product? I would imagine that I wouldn’t care and really how could you be expected to. This article brings up some interesting things to think about.
What jumped out at me was the idea that by simply having the means to wash your hands frequently can actually lower the risk of death in many countries. So to aid in education and resources for people several organizations UNICEF, WHO, etc. are teaming with governments and soap-makers to promote the use of soap and obviously make it more readily available. Good idea, but my question is what soap companies and what types of soap? Should it matter? I’m sorta on the fence and I would like to hear other opinions. Is any soap better than no soap, even if it has potentially harmful ingredients? What good are eco-friendly products or organic produce etc. if they are not accessible or even economically feasible for the majority of people? Let’s talk.
