Recent Arts Institute at Bournemouth fashion graduate, Gemma Leaky is taking the London fashion world by storm. Her fashion school project “Discarded Beauty” was picked up by London’s prestigious department store, Selfridges.
Her entire collection was made out of second-hand clothes she picked up at consignment shops. Her vision with this collection was to “produce a range of environmentally friendly clothes that could also be elegant and sophisticated.”

“There’s definitely a market for more eco-friendly clothes. Especially if they’re more feminine than what’s currently available,” Gemma said to BBC in a recent interview.
I love her collection. It’s fantastic girly, without being prissy or frilly.
Gemma is planning to use this exposure to start her own label. Not a bad ambition for a recent design school graduate from a relatively unknown school!
Check out Gemma’s website here. And watch for her silk frilled blouse and shorts, a kimono coat and a little black dress to be on shelves at Selfridges very soon!
