It’s Easy to Go Green.

It is all over the news. Green this. Green that. Green solutions for everyday living. But are we heading all of the experts advice and taking this global warming and it’s effects seriously?

I am really trying to. There are easy solutions I am implementing into my life to start. I am doing this by using less energy.

A few ways I am doing this is by making sure all of the lights and electronics are turned off when someone is not in the room using them. And the house is pitch black when we are not home. The only thing running will be my refrigerator. That’s it.

I also try to walk everywhere when possible. I do not drive the kids to school, only in inclement weather. If more people would do just that, it would save so much.

I also recycle, recycle, recycle. I have at least 3 bins full every week for the recycling truck.

The last thing I just did, was to purchase 8 reuseable cotton/canvas tote bags at the grocery store.  I will start using these next time I go to the grocery store instead of dragging home all of those plastic bags that use so much oil to produce.

What simple green solutions are you implementing into your everyday life?

I ride my bike to work on days when it’s nice. On days when it’s not, I use the bus pass provided by city employees.

That is such a fabulous idea, Amy.

I really need to get myself a bike, but I am so clumsy to begin with, I am afraid that I won’t be able to ride one anymore. Maybe I will practice on my daughters bike first! ;)

It is interesting how our lifestyles are changing. But can we alone make the big change the world needs? I think we should question whatever we consume.
I like skin care and hair products and I start doing some research on that.
Manufacturers like Vita Amazonia, which is pretty new to the US(www.vitaamazoniausa.com) are trying to help the auto sustainability of the Amazon rain forest (they depend on Amazon for most of their ingredients), they also use only vegetal and biodegradable ingredients, their containers are all recyclabe, their products are never tested on animals and they have lots of social action going on in Brazil, to help deprivate populations.
What about all other skin and hair care product manufacturers?

I believe that everyone needs to make changes in order to save the environment. Every bit helps, and I would never discourage anyone from doing so with the thinking that we cannot possibly do enough.
