Wow I adore the first one! Wish I lived in the US so I could get it!

  2. Leah says:

We should all use “hippie bags”, don’t you think. Seriously, do we NEED a ton of disposable grocery bags? Nope. I just need a way to remind myself to bring my reusable bags with me inside the store!
These are super cute and quite affordable. I’m sure they will last for many shopping trips!

    • Michelle Smith says:

I need to remember to take mine back out to the car, too. Thanks Leah. You know, reusable shopping bags might be a good idea for someone’s Etsy shop……… I’m just sayin’…..

I’ll continue to educate, promote environmental awareness, and support sustainable agriculture regardless of the contest outcome. Thanks!

i dont believe this. iv tried on many pairs of jeans and they just dont seem to fit right. maybe jeans arent just made for some people. even tho im a guy. who cares??? i dont. so as i sit here contradicting my self i know no matter how much i look i will never find ther perfect pair of jeans):

  5. I love my makeup brush, and never want to be without it. Sephora has some AMAZING stuff there, and I always spend way too much money on it when Im there…but you gotta do what’s right…right?

I always forget about the “eyeliner” brush…but its really important to pulling it all together.

    Thanks for the reminder.

  6. Using instant hand sanitizers for germ fighting cleanliness is one of the most basic things to be done in the fight against common colds, flu, and other diseases, specially with dealing with big groups.

Sweet. I adore copper. Love the earrings.

Since my umpteenth big chop i have continued to use silicone-laden productson my 4a hair, up until about two weeks ago when i switched to silicon-free, mineral-oil free, sulphate free and paraben free products. This includes ANita Grant stuff. I cant believe how soft and beautiful my hair feels. I ordered the rhassoul clay (looks and smells like chocolate but its CLAY), Barbassu and Perppermint shampoo bar (havent tried this yet) and Creamy Cafe Latte hair cream,. and the Mango and Coconut whipped butter. Co-Washed my hair in Giovanni 50:50 conditioner, DEEP conditioned with the Rhassoul, added some Giovanni leave-in conditioner and twisted my hair in a combo of the whipped butter and the Creamy Cafe Latte. My hair is light and bouncy, I have ringlets y’all – I couldnt be happier. The Cafe Latte I used very liberally since my hair is usually very dry and troublesome even after a co-wash. The rhassoul was good, although my hair looked better when i conditioned with Giovanni 50:50 conditioner last time – but maybe i didnt make my rhassoul up correctly – it was supposed to be a melted chocolate consistency, whereas mine was more like chocolate milk.

For the first time since being natural i have not needed to use any additional glycerine-based product after washing my hair.

I am extremely happy with AG’s products – it gets a 9.5/10 from me and i dont think i have ever marked anything so highly. Worth every penny and I can’t wait to throw my money at her again!

    • Michelle Smith says:

Finding products that work well with your hair – there’s nothing like it. :) I wish you many, many good-hair days.

My partner had Vegan Dr. Martens for years which he bought in the UK. They were really comfortable and looked great.

Natalie is now a Vegan. She made the move this year after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals.

  10. jackie says:

I like the second one. Have you bought this brand before?

  11. Carol says:

What a rip off. In truth, I got ripped off because I got comfortable. I should have known that sooner or later there would be a shyster out there just waiting to take advantage of the fact that we get too used to agreeing to the rules of the website without carefully digesting every single word. I got the first tube, the tryout tube for free. The small print says it would cost $89.99 a month unless I was smart enough to tell them I didn’t like it before the 15 days was up. Oh and by the way, they don’t accept returns either. Plus when I called to try to get my money back, there was just no one there who could talk to me. The person I was talking to reported to the owner of the company, no one had more authority than he and he would not approve a return…that was not their policy and I had, after all, agreed to the terms. All this and the stuff doesn’t even work. So I caution you, if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. $89.99 for a small tube of lipgloss seems a bit high to me. I’m working with my credit union to try to get my money back but I’m not feeling very positive about that. I live on a fixed income. $89 right before Christmas is big loss to me. Just be careful out there.

    • Michelle Smith says:

I’m confused. You paid $89.99 for a tube of lip gloss? What company are you talking about? I didn’t write this original post, but I took a look at it and it’s a review for the Juicy Lipgloss that she bought at Sephora. I’m not aware of any monthly lip gloss programs they have going on.

  12. ashleighBot says:

Um WOW, hulllohhh things that are going on my Christmas list! I am deeply and profoundly in love with these clothes

    • Michelle Smith says:

Aren’t they great? I love how she reused the pieces of the shirt in new ways. I never would have thought of that myself – the cuffs as sleeves, etc. Really unique. I hope you get your Christmas wish list.

  13. Crystal says:

i have around 5 purses different colors and sizes made out of potatoe chip bags, originaly made in Mexico by hand and are really risistant. As a matter a fact i to know how to make them…My mom teached me..she also knows how to make purses out of the can lids

    • Michelle Smith says:

Crystal, maybe you and your mom should make some up for an Etsy shop of your own? If you do, let me know and I’ll write about it. :)

Hmmm, those are a bit over the top for HNL! I do have a sweater with leopard collar and cuffs I’m going to pull out to wear in this newly windy, finally season-changed weather!

    • Soos, what is HNL? When I got the idea for the story, I was hoping to find something that was new, but not harmful to the environment (clothing or shoes trimmed in faux fur, like the sweater you mentioned), but I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for.

I looked at Etsy, because I love the resale stuff that I’ve seen there. I’m sure that they have less “over the top” items offered at times, but I liked those two pieces. They wouldn’t work for my life – I’m a work at home mom, but it’s fun to daydream about extravagant pieces sometimes.

      • Soos (subscribed) says:

Michelle, I live in Honolulu – HNL – Hawaii. While we are currently enjoying 35 mph gusts – cup-of-hot-tea-next-to-the-laptop weather – it is, in fact 77 degrees at 9:30 pm.

Teenagers are wearing Uggs and sweater hoodies, but it is in no way cool enough for that. Not when midday temps are 85 degrees. It never gets much cooler that 60 a few times a year. And that is at night!

So my at home uniform 250 days a year is shorts and tank top. Otherwise, I dress for the weather when stepping out to work. Skirts, blouses, slacks, a lightweight blazer or jacket and a scarf or throw. A little animal print goes a long way, so that collar or scarf is it for me.

The best thing about living in HNL is I rarely need to wear hose or shoes – and I HATE wearing those. I wear sandals, bare legs and maybe tanner. Still, this cooler weather has me thinking about pulling out those booties and socks to wear with slacks…

        • Ooh, now I get it. :) I was thinking, “Is this some sort of ‘green’ term that I should know.” Ha!! Yes, I definitely think you should skip the faux Lynx coat.

  17. Great little article! Thanks for featuring the skirt from my shop! You can’t deny that faux fur seems to always be in style and I agree vintage is the way to go as the quality will often times be much higher, even in a non designer brand, than what is available today. Etsy has some fabulous vintage sellers so I recommend checking often to find great pieces at really great prices!

    • Michelle Smith says:

I thought that skirt looked fun! You had some lovely things in your shop. I do my best to feature Etsy shops in my posts.

I like all these pieces–and whatever you wear I’m sure it’ll be fabulous!

  19. Soos (subscribed) says:

Those look great. The most important thing is to feel comfortable. And HAVE FUN!
