Not Your Mother’s Natural Soap Bar

“Like angels crying on your tongue”. That is how my friend describes the cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery in NYC. Biting into one of these confectionery creations is an experience in and of itself. Everyone should experience it at least once in your life and once you do you will be forever changed. I feel the same way about LUSH’s Honey I Washed the Kids soap.

First of all if you have never been into a LUSH store, you must go…now. It’s filled with piles of freshly( and of course naturally) made soaps, balms, butters and whatever else your little heart could desire. They even have vegan soaps and lotions. My first trip was to the Toronto location on my honeymoon. I don’t know if it was the whole “no love is as great as our love” wedding afterglow, but I was overwhelmed. Walking into this store is a full sensory experience. Then I smelled this soap and I knew I had to have it. You too will not be disappointed. It looks like a honeycomb on top of a big block of butter and smells like honey and toffee with a touch of bergamot and orange. It smells so good you may seriously want to eat it. DISCLAIMER: Please do not eat the soap. True, it is made with natural, organic and non-synthetic ingredients, but it is not food.

Once you use this soap, in the warm shower…oh my. The experience is transcendent. It leaves your skin with this silky glow and every time you catch a whiff of it throughout the day, you will get an inexplicable craving for a sugar cookie. Oh and did I mention, all of their products have a “made by” sticker that tells you who made it and when. How’s that for fresh? Perhaps one of the best draws to LUSH is that you can decide how much you want to take home. They will chop off as little or as much as you want of their soaps. So if I’m wrong and it doesn’t change your life, you didn’t lose much. However, I’m not wrong, so get a big hunk of natural loveliness and get to washing.
