I just had a wee ephiany.

Everyone's heard about "In defense of food", the new book by whats-his-name ( Noel, I know you've referenced it somewhere). His quotable bit is to eat food- unprocessed food-, and make it mostly vegetables. That sounds a nice general rule to follow to me.

Everyone would like to lose a few lbs or improve their diet, but I personally feel when I try to make a change I get overwhelmed with the options. Eat only raw, or no sugar, or no carbs, no processed foods...it's tough to decide on a method and stick with it.

What about baby steps, like saying, OK Ill try and limit carbs to breakfast, try to make lunch and dinner mostly vegetables. I find not focusing on the details and having a general view of improvement will make it easier to change old habits. I'm going to try this very broad way of improving my diet and see how it works. For example, Im taking my sister out to an Italian place today. Ill have salad and maybe a soup for lunch, and yes Im sure a bit of a breadstick, but that should fit into my super general healthier eating plans.

Waht do you think about the overload of information and how it affects your daily choices to be healthy?

Yeah Val's in too! It's debateable if I will be able to make it a week myself*snort* I'm really excite about it. I had a trial raw lunch yesterday and it was pretty yummy. I just piled stuff we already had (orange pepper, mushroom, clover sprouts, bamboo shoots) and tossed them in a mixture of sesame oil, low-sodium soy sauce and a teensy bit of dijon mustard. Then I piled the mix in pieces of romaine heartds and made little lettuce wraps.

I have to say it was really good. I will post some recipes and let you know how they turned out! The real test will be what the hubs ends up eating.

Noel,
I will absolutely try this if I have some good recipe suggestions first :) I need to detox myself badly. I love the idea and to have some inspiration (you) really helps. If you can do it, I can do it. I'm anxious to see how it goes. If you do it successfully, I will try and post about it and definitely dedicate the week to you! :) (*if* I do it)

Great post Noel!
You may want to look at the "Feast" as an organic whole food supplement to add to your detox and over all health.

That sounds like a great idea. I was going to try some of the recipes at Gone Raw[dot]com. There was a recipe for a "cesear" salad with pumpkin seeds that I am definitely going to try. Maybe incorporating an ayurvedix detox migth be a good thing I can do every week. Thanks!

if you can give me some good recepies, im all on it!! what are you eating, noel?

a ayurvedix detox i've heard of is to do a fruit fast one day a week; you drink lots of water and just eat fresh fruit. it sounds like a good way to end/start a week, say on saturday or sundays.
