Pretty by Nature

Setting the Natural Standard.

Taking a look over at Burt’s Bees, they are taking their natural standard campaign to the next level. They need our help.

Go the following page to sign for Burt’s Bill:

Burt’s Bill for Setting The Natural Standard.

As there is no regulation on what product can and can not be claimed natural, Burt’s Bees is taking a strong stand.

This “bill” is a drive to develop a standard for all natural personal care products. This would require that all natural personal care products:

  1. Meet the highest levels of being natural and safe
  2. Use a seal on all packaging to help consumers easily identify truly natural products

If you agree with this, please take a quick moment to join us and sign Burt’s Bill for Setting The Natural Standard.

By showing your support, individually and collectively, we will be able to fully convince other brands and retailers of the need to adhere to a standard and provide much needed education for consumers in stores. For the good of your well-being. For the good of your friends and family. For the good of the environment. For The Greater Good.

Simple! Join me and Burt’s Bees by signing the bill now.

I just signed the bill. All you have to do is fill in your first and last name, zip code, e-mail address, agree to the bill, and send. Once you are finished, you can even fill out a form where you can send the bill to some of your friends who might be interested as well.

I just signed also, because I hate the false advertising on some “natural” products. And also because I ADORE Burt’s products. Thanks for the post!

Done! I love BurtsBees products and I love the values that the company stands for. I would love to be able to know something about what is in my beauty products without spending my time scouring the ingredients list and running back and forth to google to see what they are. Thanks for the informative post!

Excellent idea! I’ll head over to their site now – there should be a standard so we know what we’re getting!

Thanks for posting this! I agree that terms such as “natural” should be regulated. There are far too many consumers being mislead by that word being thrown around so carelessly.

Hi! That’s a GREAT idea – the “false” advertising is horrible! A standard would be great.

I can’t believe people are buying into this! Burt’s is such a greenwashed company now owned by a hedge fund. This bill is seeking to define “natural” on their terms which mysteriously includes the processed ingredients which they use i.e decyl glucoside. Not to mention SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCE…and LANOLIN, which is taken from sheep and contaminated with flea dip from the sheeps. Don’t believe the Burt’s marketing machine…they are not on your side.

  13. Carol Warner says:

Not so sure about this. I have heard lots of bad things about Burt’s Bees. That big company that owns them also owns Symrise, which is a chemical cosmetic and fake fragrance manufacturer in Germany that still tests on animals (my friends were picketing them). Are you telling me that Burt’s doesn’t get ingredients from a sister company? This bill seems like a last ditch effort to still convince people they are clean.

  14. Imah says:

Clorox…erm…isn’t that the bleach i use to clean toilets with… hope there’s no clorox in my burt’s bee facial wash!!

  1. [...] Like, I want to know what kind of fragrance is used. The merger with Clorox makes their Bill for Setting The Natural Standard sort or disingenuous. After I checked out their baby wash on Cosmetic Database, I was floored at [...]
