Smashing the Competition

Smashbox is the latest big name in the cosmetics industry to hop on the green (whatever that means) bandwagon with their new Green Room Collection. All of the packaging is biodegradable or recyclable and the makeup itself is made using environmentally friendly formulas. Exactly which environmentally friendly ingredients do they contain? Well I was unable to find any specific ingredient information on their site. I did find the information on Sephora however and did a crossearch on the ingredients list on Cosmetic Database. The ingredients have a hazard rating range of two to even eight or nine in some cases. Interesting. Most of the line contains extracts from the Moringa tree. Here’s more from the website.
“With the purchase of every GREEN ROOM product, a Moringa tree will be planted in a developing country by Trees for the Future. The Moringa or “Miracle Tree” is a powerhouse of nutritional value and provides a self-renewing food source for people in need. More trees also mean less soil erosion and cleaner air and water for a greener future”.
Well there you go. For some reason this makes me feel very suspicious. A vague description of ingredients that are
supposedly environmentally friendly, which is debatable, and planting of trees. But then maybe it’s just me. I’m incredulous by nature. Has anyone had the opportunity to pick these up or try anything from this line? Please give us some feedback.

My wife loves Smashbox!
