I really had to share with you my latest Etsy find. It’s another salt soak. Yes, I know it’s a problem but hear me out. You can take bath salts anywhere and they solve so many problems. Tired? Take a lovely bath honey. Aching muscles? Stressed? Take a bath. They’re oh so helpful. Etsy seller Heathen’s Hearth has a bevy of salts and scrubs but the Chamomile Salt Soak is the one I must have. It’s a mixture of different salts and well Chamomile so it’s pretty straight forward. You could certainly make something like this yourself at home.

If you’re really interested in a mind, body, soul rejuvenation thing then you should try a scrub in addition to the salt soak. Then of course you run the risk of having skin so soft that you can’t bear to wear anything but cashmere and gloves non-stop. A fantastic homemade scrub I always come back to is a mixture of your favorite oil (walnut, olive, sweet almond) and the grounds from a freshly brewed pot of coffee. We get this great Gingerbread Coffee from Trader Joes that has bits of ginger and almonds in it. Um, hello now that’s a recipe for some awesome coffee body scrub. I digress. Either pick up or make some bath salts and scrub and turn off the phone.

Or maybe like keep some for yourself. You’re secret will be safe with me.

What is body dew you ask? Well I have to tell you I’m not quite sure. I think it’s somewhere between a mist and a splash of fragrance. I’ve wanted to try some of Jo Wood’s fragrances for a while but to be honest the prices are quite dear and I didn’t want to waste it if I didn’t like it. I really have to wear a scent all day in my normal atmosphere in order to be sure if I like it or not. The artificial surroundings of a store will just not cut it. So I picked this up over the Holiday weekend and…WOW. I am quite in love with the Usiku Body Dew and it’s earthy, almost old-world aroma. I don’t like fruity or flowery smelling fragrances so if you’re like me then try this one. It doesn’t hurt that it’s packaged beautifully in an etched glass bottle. It also comes in Amka, which I would reccomend more for daytime and the Usiku for an evening out (or an evening in!). This would make a great gift for someone. It would have to be someone you liked a lot and knew very well. Or like me…you can buy some and send it to me so I won’t run out.

Has anyone tried this or something similar? Was it helpful and did it cause any skin irritation?

I am a huge fan of weekly deep conditioning treatments for your hair. I’ve used masks and oils and I find that the oils are especially good for when it’s cold outside and dry and warm inside.
I am a huge fan of weekly deep conditioning treatments for your hair. I’ve used masks and oils and I find that the oils are especially good for when it’s cold outside and dry and warm inside. This month’s Lucky magazine has a little blurb about Wen’s Cucumber Aloe Hair and Body oil. I actually tried his hair and body oil out last year (the Sweet Almond Mint) and I absolutely loved it. It’s basically just jojoba oil and essential oils which you could obviously do yourself and stick it in a pretty glass bottle. You can get those bottles with a dropper at any craft store and voila your own little potion. I’m lazy though and sometimes I just like to buy something already made to make me feel better. Planet killer that I am.

The best way to use it I have found is to apply it in sections to dry hair and comb through with a wide tooth comb. I usually then cover my head with a shower cap and leave it on for about 30 minutes. Then apply a little bit of your shampoo to your dry hair. Add a little water if you need to get it going and then rinse and condition as usual. My hair is so excessively swingy, shiny and soft after one of these treatments. It’s also great to combat winter hat hair if you run just the teeniest, tiniest bit of it through your hair before you put your hat on. The really great thing about it is that you can use it as a body and bath oil as well so it’s a much better bang for your buck.

Just in time for the Holidays, The Bubble Roome has an awesome new 3-in-1 spray. You can use it as a linen spray, room spary or for your body. It has sweet orange essential oil, vanilla, cloves and more very fall/winter scents. This would be a great gift for a party host or a nice stocking stuffer. I most surely would spray it all over my linen closet. Or spray this around when you have guests coming and they will be impressed and wonder what you’ve been cooking.

I did try the Diva Cup and some reusable pantyliners a few months ago with mixed results. The pantyliners are fantastic and so much more comfortable than standard disposables. I just rinse them out and throw them in the wash and I haven’t had any issues with them. Now the Diva Cup on the other hand was an absolute fail…a very expensive one. I found it to be incredibly uncomfortable and almost impossible to remove without a good deal of effort. I really want to give it another try but after many attempts, I’m sorta traumatized by the experience. Anyway check out the Grist article and pass it along.

I love discovering new product lines because it opens up a whole new world. Well, more like a whole new place for me to spend money. I heard about Patyka this week and now unfortunately I see many things that I must have. Top of the list is their mint shower gel. Their products are certified organic by ECOCERT and contain no parabens, silicone or petroleum. The Eucalyptus Massage Oil also looks pretty nice. I may get that one for the hubs. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Kiss My Face just launched their new lip and skincare line and TreeHugger gives you a rundown of the new products and the party. Great, cause dude I totally want to know who catered the party and if the canapés were organic. Question? Was the waitstaff clad in bamboo trousers with cork clogs? Anyway snark aside, they have some new sheer organic shine lip glosses that sound pretty nifty. I wasn’t able to find it on their website but then again I didn’t look that hard.

What did catch my eye was their new kids line, Kiss My Face Kids (natch). Kiss My Face seems to be throwing their hat into the ring, that is already crowded, with the likes of Method, California Baby etc. Natural and Organic skin care for children and babies is a BOOMING market and they are wise to try to take part. I for one have a tender spot for Kiss My Face so I’m keeping an open mind. Has anyone had the chance to try out any of their new products? What do you think? Let’s share some feedback here!
