Linda Loudermilk’s Spring 2008 Collection

Linda Loudermilk’s collection screams ethereal rocker chic. She has created a collection filled with whimsical, edgy and dark pieces partnered with edgy and practical garments that evoke the feelings of her more over-the-top dresses. Her striking color palette (I love her choices of electric blue and the pale flower print), asymmetrical cuts and unique silhouettes adds an element of sophistication to the entire collection.

This collection is streamlined and cohesive, as well as being extremely versatile (which is always super-hard to accomplish!). You could easily pair some things with black lipstick and a sneer and others with chic heels and …read more

Toronto Eco-Couture Show

I live in Toronto, so I’m excited about this event!
Next Wednesday, September 26th. Fashion Takes Action will be presenting an Eco-Couture Gala and Benefit. It will feature designers David Dixon, Thien Le, Pat McDonagh, Sarah Nicol, Juma, Damzels in this Dress, Annie Thompson, Farley Chatto, Rosa Costanzo and Ula Zukowska as they present their latest eco-friendly collections.

For the event, each designer was supplied with fabrics that were dyed with low-impact dyes, pesticide-free, biodegradable and organic — think bamboo, soy, hemp and organic cotton!
The fabric was generously donated by SYKA Textiles and the event is sponsored by EnWise Power Solutions.

John Bartlett’s Off-Grid Fashion Line

John Bartlett’s Off-Grid Fashion Line

John Bartlett is an ecelectic and innovative menswear designer. His style is this clash of preppy and queer aesthetics — think pinstripes and pink!
The best part about Bartlett’s line — which was showcased at NYC Fashion Week — is that he produced the entire collection off-grid. That’s right, there is not one carbon emission to be found anywhere in his pretty penny loafers.
The collection features hand-woven Italian fabrics, hand croheted, stitched and knitted garments using foot-pedal sewing machines. Once produced, the garments were packaged in recycled boxes and transported using biofuel.
Bartlett studied sociology at Harvard before turning toward fashion. His …read more

Bindi Irwin, Eco-Fashion Designer

Bindi Irwin, Eco-Fashion Designer

With every Jessica (as in Sarah and Simpson), Paris, Olsen twin, and Amanda Bynes (this one truly baffles me!) getting in on the celebrity-turned-fashion-designer bandwagon, why shouldn’t Bindi Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter’s cute as a button daughter?
Bindi launched an eco-friendly kids’ clothing line in Las Vegas at Magic, the world’s largest trade show, last week.
Bindi herself hit the catwalk and strutted her stuff for the potential department store buyers.
The most amazing part? 100% of the profits from The Bindi Wear International Fashion Line will go towards supporting conservation programs run by the Australia Zoo.
Bindi worked with the Australian kiddie fashion …read more

Linda Loudermilk’s Fall 2007 Collection

Linda Loudermilk’s Fall 2007 Collection

Since Jane Fonda looked so good in Linda Loudermilk, I decided I would share with you my favorite outfits from her Fall 2007 collection.

Linda Loudermilk uses fabrics made out of sustainable and renewable products like sasawashi, bamboo, sea cell, soya and other exotic self-sustaining plants.
She writes on her website:

We aim to give eco glamour legs, a fabulous look and a slammin’ attitude that stops traffic and shouts the message: eco can be edgy, loud, fun, playful, feminine (or not) and hyper-cool. All created by meticulously researched sustainable business practices and fair labor standards.
There’s tons more from this collection! To …read more

Green Celeb Style: Jane Fonda

Green Celeb Style: Jane Fonda

When Jane Fonda appeared on David Letterman in May to promote the Lindsay Lohan movie ‘Georgia Rule’, Jane looked fabulous!
Part of the reason she looked so great were the milk fiber sweater and hemp slacks she wore by eco-designer Linda Loudermilk.
When talking about the outfit, Jane joked “you can drink my top and smoke my bottom!”
I couldn’t find a decent photo of this outfit, and screen shots would hardly suffice such beautiful clothing, so here is a clip of Ms. Fonda gettin’ her green on:

Both pieces were from Linda’s Fall 2007 collection, which you can check out for yourself …read more
