Dr. Hauschka’s New Creamy Lip Colors

My love for a few of Dr. Hauschka’s products borders on the fanatical. Hello, lip care stick anyone. So when I peeped their new creamy lip colors I had to resist the temptation to buy them all. At $21.00 USD a piece that’s just not going to happen though. It’s creamy like a lip balm, hopefully has the essence of their trademark balm, but with mineral pigments. The red-03 shade actually looks more like plum to me, which is like my go-to dressy lip color. I will say that some of the good Dr.’s products are just a little strong for me in the fragrance department. I haven’t had the chance to try this out in person so I will have to reserve my full judgment until then. Plus it comes in a great little compact thingy and you can apply it with a brush. I find that’s the way I get the best application with lipsticks and such. Has anyone tried it out and what are your thoughts? You can get the full list of ingredients here.

Bright Eyes

I have a confession to make. I hope we can keep it just between us. Ready? I’m old and tired…no seriously. What does this mean? Well it means that I’m usually in bed by 9:30-10pm and my idea of a hot date with my husband would involve a babysitter, a luxury hotel room and about 16 hours of sleep. Well and maybe the complete second season of Mad Men. The result is that I look like I’m sick or high most of the time. The bags, the dark circles and the redness are so not cute.

Enter Suki’s Eye Repair Balm to save my fragile self-esteem. I have actually tried the old Preperation H under the eyes trick and my skin was not happy. Oh and gross, HELLO. So when I saw Suki’s balm I thought it was worth it. After two weeks I can say that I love it. I haven’t seen dramatic results but I can see a distinct difference. Now I don’t look like I’ve been up for 36 hours popping pills. If I put it in the fridge I think it works even better. Ok maybe not but at least it feels better. I’ve found a temporary solution to the red eyes problem with these eye drops but I don’t want to keep using them for the long term. Do you have any suggestions for me? What natural remedies have you used to help dry, red eyes? Please don’t say more sleep because you will have to talk to the kid about that one since he still wakes up a couple times a week and decided to start his day around 5am.

Hot Apple Cider Bath Soak

Fall is my favorite time of the year. It’s also prime apple pie and apple cider season around here. Apples are great for your health in general but they are also great for your skin. A great cool weather bath soak that also smells divine uses grated apples, oatmeal and cinnamon. Roughly grate the apple and bind it together with a little honey. Wrap it in some cheesecloth with a cinnamon stick and a cup of oats. Tie it off and throw it in the bath. It will leave your skin feeling incredibly soft and luxurious.

The apple and honey mixture also works well as a facial mask. You can add an egg white to it as well if you choose and leave it on for about 10 minutes. It will help your skin’s elasticity as well as keep it looking soft and dewy.

I really like the idea that products not tested on animals and free of Parabens and synthetics ingredients are becoming so widely available. If it’s better for some, then why shouldn’t it be better for everyone is my question? Everyone should have access to quality produce and soap that doesn’t melt your skin off. Along these lines, I would like your input on Physician’s Formula Organic Wear line. The two products, tinted moisturizers, listed on Cosmetic Database have a rating of 3, which is better than I had expected. I would like to hear from you if you have actually tried any of the products and how they worked and felt on your skin. I think it’s good for us to be able to share information and personal experiences with different products here. Please fill us in!

Etsy Fun

I know it’s a little like beating a dead horse by now but boy do I love Etsy. I wanted to share with you some of the stuff I’m craving…today. I know consumption, must.resist. These look like such a great idea for exfoliating. I used to use those disposable one-use facial cloths but I finally realized how silly that was. They are really great in a pinch though. These would also be great if you squirted a little soap on them and took them with you, then wet them when you’re ready to wash your face. Do you thin that would work? I’m trying to figure it out hmmm. Also they’re just too cute. It would make me feel better at least to wash my face with one of these in the morning.

Speaking of revitalizing facial treatments, um how AMAZING does this stuff look? Me want, me must have. Dead Sea mud, organic lavender…I’m there. I am all about the clay mask since my face becomes this ridiculous mess in the summer. I don’t glisten. I have never glistened. I don’t look dewy. I just look sweaty and greasy. Help is on the way.

You Could Fry An Egg

Today it was so incredibly hot and humid that I was almost delirious. No seriously. Yesterday it was Spring. Today suddenly we are on the brink of the apocalypse. The heat index stopped trying; it just said, “Damn it’s hot”. In one of my very rare moments of forethought, I bought a watermelon the other day. I figured it would be cool and refreshing to eat but I hadn’t planned on using it as a beauty treatment. It’s much larger than I thought once I cut it up so I went searching for ways to cool down and beautify using watermelon. Here’s the one I found that sounds the most tantalizing. Could it be the vodka…hmmm? You can’t drink it okay. It’s for your face you boozehounds.

So Fresh You May Want To Eat It

Not to beat a dead horse but I went to LUSH again over the weekend. Yes again… it was Mother’s Day. Don’t look at me like that. You will understand when I tell you that they have these amazing fresh face masks on ice in the store and you can’t get them online. I’ll paint a picture for you.

You’ve just put in your eight hours at your soul sucking job, fought traffic or other disgruntled commuters and it’s hot and you’re sweaty and pissed off. Now imagine pulling a refreshing face mask from your refrigerator and having yummy fresh ingredients suck all that stress out of your pores. Once you try one of these you will wonder how you made it this far in life without one. In fact you may wonder if life is worth living without it. Okay maybe that’s over the line, but seriously this stuff ROCKS.

I picked up “A Crash Course in Skincare” and it’s divine. It has avocado, lemon and yogurt and a few other essentials. I certainly could have made this myself at home and not wasted the money or resources but I was childless and roaming free. I was lightheaded and confused. So while you would not have to actually buy something like this, it’s a great idea. You could make your own refreshing Summer detox mask and keep it in the fridge in a glass container. I shouldn’t be let out alone anymore. Bad things happen.

First off, if you don’t know, rosacea doesn’t mean you have rosy cheeks. It doesn’t mean that you’re some jolly Santa Claus or that you’re blessed with natural rouge.

In short, it sucks.

Green Tea Skin Firming Mask

This was up on Planet Green the other day about how to make a skin firming mask. It has never even occurred to me to use anything other than water when making a clay mask. Green tea? What a fantastic idea. This opens up a whole new world of fresh options for face-saving masks. I just happen to have some bentonite clay and some green tea…hello. Too many possibilities. I wonder if you can use cranberry juice. Hmm…what do you think?

I’m back again, purveyor of all things emollient for one’s lips. What if I told you I have found a certified organic lip balm in delicious flavors like Chai Mandarin and Lavender Vanilla. Interested? Well what if I told you it was paraben and toxin free and comes in the absolute cutest little vintage inspired tin? You’re in luck because I did. That would be funny if I was all, “well too bad it doesn’t exist haha; got your hopes all up for nothing.”

“All the better to kiss you with” from Baby Bear Shop combines everything I love in a lip balm and is just the perfect anytime balm. It’s not possible for me to resist anything with Chai in it. I’m all over it. This would be great over a little lip stain to make it more lipsticky but will last you longer. I should get a display case for my collection of lip balms so they can be seen in all their glory.
