So I finally was able to crack into my latest sample packet from Saffron Rouge and I have to say I’m really impressed. The samples were from a New Zealand based company, Living Nature, that uses active, native plant ingredients foind in New Zealand and are BDIH certified natural. So I know we’ve talked about NVEY Eco Cosmetics here before. I love their mascara but I haven’t really gotten around to trying anything else from the line. I find a lot of things these days that were once great and then replaced by newer, better things have now swung back into fashion. A lot if it obviously has to do with the eco-friendly trend and finding alternatives to our chemical laden lifestyles. Which begs the question, “Why did we stop using them in the first place if they worked so well?” I mean baking soda and castille soap works better for household surfaces than any other packaged cleanser you will find. Over at TreeHugger today there’s a great article about African Black Soap. Apparently it can heal the world and fix a broken leg too. No but seriously, it sounds like this soap can do just about everything. I need something like that. A one stop do-all soap. It can be used on everything from your hair and body for general use to treating skin rashes as well. I have heard that it does wonders for acne and eczema so I did order a bar from Amazon today. I just spied this from C.O. Bigelow and I am soo tempted to run out and get it tomorrow. In this kind of weather my face is majorly oily. It just drives me crazy especially on the rare occasion that I wear makeup. I’m all about the clay because I just love the way it feels going on and it leaves my skin soft but not dried out. Sephora is now carrying NVEY cosmetics in their Natural & Organic section. It seems the selection is a bit limited but it’s nice that they are starting to carry it. NVEY products are certified organic by the Australian Government and is paraben, SLS, GM, talc and cruelty free. They do not contain petroleum based ingredients either. If you haven’t tried them out before I really think you should. I think I want to try their Organic Cake Eyeliner. Seems very Brigitte Bardot revisited.

This was up on Planet Green the other day about how to make a skin firming mask. It has never even occurred to me to use anything other than water when making a clay mask. Green tea? What a fantastic idea. This opens up a whole new world of fresh options for face-saving masks. I just happen to have some bentonite clay and some green tea…hello. Too many possibilities. I wonder if you can use cranberry juice. Hmm…what do you think?

In response to a recent request to give a little “best of” lip balm, lipstick edition. I sort of touched on the topic a while ago but I now have more to add to the list and thought we could just get it all out at once. Then maybe I will stop talking about it? Haha never. Just in time for Earth Day, Cargo has some great new shades in their PlantLove collection. Their botanical lipsticks are packaged in a paper box that actually contains flower seeds that can be planted into the ground. Each of the shades in the collection was designed by, and I quote, “Your favorite celebrities.” Not my favorites. Do I want to wear a lipstick designed by Lindsay Lohan? Silly celeb obsessed nonsense aside, the colors are really nice. I could see myself in Sam by Denise Richards. I feel a little dirty now.
