I came across Habitude while trolling around the ‘net and I love their look. They have a very glam feel about everything they design, while remaining eco-friendly.
Laura Chapuis, the designer of Habitude, spent 8 years working in the fashion industry, and wanted to find more meaning in her work. The line was launched in 2005, after Laura moved to Texas, discovering along the way that Texas produces most of the organic cotton in the country.

This collection is streamlined and cohesive, as well as being extremely versatile (which is always super-hard to accomplish!). You could easily pair some things with black lipstick and a sneer and others with chic heels and head to the office. I love how she styled her fashion show, but one can easily play mix-and-match with her entire collection!

My favorite piece is the striking black dress at the bottom of this post. I could never ever it anywhere, but I can still drool, right? If I’m going to go the more practical (i.e. no one stopping in the street going “WTF” as I walk by ) route, I love her shorts and day dresses, especially the blue one and the plaid one.

The entire collection is made out of eco-friendly and sustainable materials like bamboo and soy!

To check out the entire collection or to find a store near you, head over to Linda’s official website. Her men’s Spring 2008 collection is equally fantastic! Hmm, maybe I’ll blog about it later…

Anna is a realist in that she recognizes that sustainable fashion has limits. That is why she guarantees that all her products are 75% sustainable–things like trims, buttons and zippers and transportation of the garments and people may not be.

I find Anna’s clothing to be very classic–lots of slim silhouettes and dark colors–but with unique twists on cuts and details that make it truly unique. While I didn’t love her entire line, overall it was a complete and satisfying collection, with some individual pieces that were stunning!

I was also impressed with her use of realistic model body types. Still slimmer than I’ll ever be, but it looks like these girls eat!

To check out the rest of her collection, her other collections, and to find out where you can buy her products, go to her official website!

The best part about Bartlett’s line — which was showcased at NYC Fashion Week — is that he produced the entire collection off-grid. That’s right, there is not one carbon emission to be found anywhere in his pretty penny loafers.
The collection features hand-woven Italian fabrics, hand croheted, stitched and knitted garments using foot-pedal sewing machines. Once produced, the garments were packaged in recycled boxes and transported using biofuel.

His style is this clash of preppy and queer aesthetics — think pinstripes and pink!

Bartlett studied sociology at Harvard before turning toward fashion. His non-traditional background lends itself nicely to his work, which consists of a sleek, traditional silhouette that pulses with life and color when it comes to the fabric selection and the details.

You can read more about Bartlett at NY Magazine and you can also check out slideshows of his Fall and Spring 2007 collections there.

I’m sure a slide show of his spring 2008 collection will be up soon! Also, be sure to check out this great interview with Bartlett by the Fashion Informer.

Bartlett is so off-grid, he doesn’t have his own website. However, he does have a boutique in NYC’s West Village, so if you are ever in town, please go check it out!

Linda Loudermilk uses fabrics made out of sustainable and renewable products like sasawashi, bamboo, sea cell, soya and other exotic self-sustaining plants.
She writes on her website:

We aim to give eco glamour legs, a fabulous look and a slammin’ attitude that stops traffic and shouts the message: eco can be edgy, loud, fun, playful, feminine (or not) and hyper-cool. All created by meticulously researched sustainable business practices and fair labor standards.
