Another great place for Holiday Gift ideas is Sephora. Of course Sephora. They have tons of gift options and limited collections from your favorite brands. I personally love samplers because you get to try out lots of products without the commitment of a full size and it saves packaging. Cargo’s Plant Love Collections are always a hit. I recommend the Green Goddess Collection that comes with four eye shadows and two blushes. The Plant Love Collection is free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, dyes, petro- chemicals and phthalates. Did I mention the packaging is also compostable. Plus since there are so many options you will get a lot of use out of it.

I’m very excited for this year’s round of Holiday parties, mostly due to the fact that we will actually be in town to attend said parties this year. Hallelujah for no more traveling on Christmas. Thank you recession…officially. Anyway so I actually am going to be able to get dressed up and go places. The first being for my birthday next week ( you can send those presents anytime folks). So to prepare I picked up 100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Lip and Cheek Stains. I am such a fan of the multi-purpose creamy stain products. This one happens to come in an easy application form which is even better for quick jobs. I can easily swipe this on in the back of a cab or a dimly lit bathroom. I got the Shimmery Cocoa Berry and I think I will be able to wear it for daytime as well. The ingredients: Fruit Pigments of Blackberry Pomegranate, Red Wine, Raspberry and Strawberry, Cocoa Bean, Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Grapeseed oil, Cocoa Butter, Honey Beewas, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol). Natural Strawberry Flavor. It also doesn’t feel cakey or like my skin is suffocating, which can sometimes be a problem with “natural” cosmetics. It’s a winner in my book so if you’re in the market, check this option out. Any other reviews? Have you tried other 100% Pure products? What’s your take?

Shea Butter Lip Balb

This year it feels like we totally skipped Fall around here and went straight into Winter. I feel like I’ve been cheated a little bit, especially since Fall is my favorite time of the year. So with wintery weather also comes wintery skin. They’re a package deal. I am never without my trusty lip balm, but around this time I stick to the heavier ones. I just came across Perfect Organic’s Shea Butter Lip Balm and I was like OMG SWEET. No seriously, that’s what I said and it was lame, but anyway. I tried the Fresh Mint scent and I am 110% hooked. It is ridiculously soothing and buttery but not waxy. It’s eveyrthing you could ever want in a multi-purpose do-it-all balm. Plus I do prefer a potted lip balm these days. It’s just easier for me, which seems counter intuitive but whatever. I make no apologies for my lip lip love. Ingredients:*Shea Butter, *Sweet Almond Oil, *Hazel Nut Oil, *Jojoba Oil, *Peppermint Essential Oil, Non-GMO Vit. E. (*Organic). You can get a mutlipack for only $10.00 and they would make great stocking stuffers or a gift for a friend.

New Products From Kiss My Face

Kiss My Face just launched their new lip and skincare line and TreeHugger gives you a rundown of the new products and the party. Great, cause dude I totally want to know who catered the party and if the canapés were organic. Question? Was the waitstaff clad in bamboo trousers with cork clogs? Anyway snark aside, they have some new sheer organic shine lip glosses that sound pretty nifty. I wasn’t able to find it on their website but then again I didn’t look that hard.

What did catch my eye was their new kids line, Kiss My Face Kids (natch). Kiss My Face seems to be throwing their hat into the ring, that is already crowded, with the likes of Method, California Baby etc. Natural and Organic skin care for children and babies is a BOOMING market and they are wise to try to take part. I for one have a tender spot for Kiss My Face so I’m keeping an open mind. Has anyone had the chance to try out any of their new products? What do you think? Let’s share some feedback here!

Dr. Hauschka’s New Creamy Lip Colors

My love for a few of Dr. Hauschka’s products borders on the fanatical. Hello, lip care stick anyone. So when I peeped their new creamy lip colors I had to resist the temptation to buy them all. At $21.00 USD a piece that’s just not going to happen though. It’s creamy like a lip balm, hopefully has the essence of their trademark balm, but with mineral pigments. The red-03 shade actually looks more like plum to me, which is like my go-to dressy lip color. I will say that some of the good Dr.’s products are just a little strong for me in the fragrance department. I haven’t had the chance to try this out in person so I will have to reserve my full judgment until then. Plus it comes in a great little compact thingy and you can apply it with a brush. I find that’s the way I get the best application with lipsticks and such. Has anyone tried it out and what are your thoughts? You can get the full list of ingredients here.

I really like the idea that products not tested on animals and free of Parabens and synthetics ingredients are becoming so widely available. If it’s better for some, then why shouldn’t it be better for everyone is my question? Everyone should have access to quality produce and soap that doesn’t melt your skin off. Along these lines, I would like your input on Physician’s Formula Organic Wear line. The two products, tinted moisturizers, listed on Cosmetic Database have a rating of 3, which is better than I had expected. I would like to hear from you if you have actually tried any of the products and how they worked and felt on your skin. I think it’s good for us to be able to share information and personal experiences with different products here. Please fill us in!

All is Well

Thankfully we all made it through the tornado followed by hail, lightening and thunder storm last night. The bug, true to form, slept straight through it only to wake up at 5am wondering why we were so tired. The hubs and I went from laughing, “haha maybe we should move away from the window” to “oh crap seriously let’s take cover.” Anyhoo let’s talk mascara.

We will be going to a wedding next month and I need to look nice, you know actually put something other than flip-flops on and wear some makeup. I am really wanting to do a light old-fashioned cat eye thing with my eye makeup but I need to learn how of course and then actually get some eye makeup. I’m leaning towards this and this to achieve it. I suppose I will need one of those fancy angled brushes to apply the eyeliner. Ecotools has one that I would like to try. I would rather not spend gads of money on a few items that, let’s face it I won’t be using on a regular basis. However I am kinda looking forward to the opportunity to get dressed up so I figure I should go all out. Any tips on makeup application for the challenged? What’s your go-to routine for creating a dramatic eye makeup experience? Please dumb it down for me.
