This year, in an effort to survive the high cost of the holidays, I’m going to get a jump-start on my gift shopping. My theory is that if I spread the shopping out over a few months, instead of cramming it all into December, it will be easier on my budget. Do you think it will work? Wish me luck, please!
LaLicious is launching a new gift trio of their Body Butters for the holiday season. These butters are sized just right for stashing into your to-go bag at 2 ounces each. They come in 2 different scented trio sets – …read more
Great Mineral Makeup At A Good Price

Physicians Formula was one of the first makeup lines that I used when I began wearing makeup. My teenage skin was seriously prone to break-outs and Mom believed that I’d have good luck with the line. At that time, there weren’t as many choices as there are today. I think I used the foundation only.
Years later, the very first mineral makeup brand that I used was also Physicians Formula. They’ve perfected their formula and developed the Organic wear 100% Natural Origin Makeup. The line is eco-friendly as well as good for the skin. It’s free of harsh chemicals, synthetic perservatives, paraben, …read more

Natural Moisturizer with Tea to Combat Wind-burned skin

I’m staying at my sister’s house for the weekend and the wind is blowing like crazy here. Warnings are running across the top of the television telling people to “tie down lawn ornaments,” and watch out for falling tree limbs.
We were out there, not 45 minutes ago, and I was taking pictures of the kids shooting baskets, wrestling on the grass, skipping – just good old get your wiggles out fun. Now we are indoors and it feels like all the moisture has been sucked clear out of my skin. I need a good moisturizer. Something like Signature Natural’s Herbal …read more

Have you seen the cutest website from Miss Inky – where the tagline is Beauty on a Mission? Yes, Inky Loves Nature. Who says that natural cannot be funky and fun.
Some of my lemmings from the site:
Warrior Queen Cleanser – made with African Black Soap
Magical Melanin Moisturizer – a natural sun protection
Self Love Body Scrub – says to be so thick it is scoopable
There is an Inky Dinks sample pack available too, for just $17. Inside the sack are 12 samples including something in each of the 7 scents. Maybe this is what I should try first. Hmmm.

Mineral Oil is Yuck. Discuss. This Time, with Back Up

You know how I hate Mineral Oil? I needed to know why, so I asked the Beauty Brains and they came up with an amazing 5-point answer for me. Please tell me what you think.
Also, you know what else they said? That products that claim to not be tested on animals may not be tested by animals by the particular company that claims not to have tested them, but the raw ingredients themselves must be tested on animals, that’s the only way they are deemed safe. So sorry, Marley, all products are tested on animals. According to a cosmetic …read more
Mineral Oil is Yuck. Discuss.

The peeps who love the mineral oil are a devoted, nay, extremist bunch. I have never seen a more angry reaction to me saying that mineral oil is bad for you than I did when I said the Doodlebops are creepy (yes they are!). I know it works well as a lubricant and softener, that’s well established. And the Beauty Brains has numerous posts extolling its virtues (and they ought to know!) So why do the natural people think it’s so toxic? Is it because it comes from crude oil, the stuff we put in our cars, that makes it …read more
