As one contest ends another begins today. Like sand through an hourglass so are the days of…well…free stuff I guess. There’s only a few more hours left to win free hand wash from CleanWell, so ENTER NOW.
But on to our next contest as part of Whole Health and Wellness month. There are lots of outdated ideas about nutrition that are still floating around. Things like, “avocados are bad for you” or “white bread is healthy”. One of the worst is that we should all be eating three square meals a day. In reality the best thing for you is to …read more
Raw Food Detox:Update

So after only a few days in, I have abandoned the raw cause. I just like cooked food too much. I can really see the benefit and I did have some yummy raw meals that I fully plan to make again, but I just can’t see doing it every day for every meal. But…but I have been able to stick to a mostly vegan diet, if not raw. It’s been surprisingly uncomplicated. I made the vegan lasagna we talked about the other day last night for dinner that was mouth wateringly delicious, if I may toot my own horn, and …read more

So this week, as part of our Whole Health and Wellness theme, I am going to embark on a raw food diet. What I really wanted to do was to detox and really clean out my body. I’ve heard about the raw food lifestyle for years and decided that it was most definitely not for me. I enjoy lovely pastas and sauteed veggies WAY too much to give it up. It just occurred to me however that there’s no need to change my entire life. I could just try it for a week, couldn’t I? Can I make it a week even …read more

I just wanted to let you all know that as part of our Whole Health and Wellness month, which was originally intended to be a week, Almost Vegetarian will be giving us tips on foods that nourish the inside and out. She will be kicking off a full week of giveaways starting on March 24th. Check out her website for yummy recipes and tips in the meantime. I tried her “Nanner” smoothie and it was just TOO GOOD. The kind of yummy that makes you actually say “yummy”. The only changes I made to the recipe was to add some …read more
Giving Them A Chance

It’s no secret that I have a love/hate relationship with Whole Paycheck. Maybe that’s too strong. How about I have an attraction/repulsion relationship. There are some things that I just can’t get anywhere else without major inconvenience so I find myself there more often than I would like. Maybe the real problem I have is with some of their clientele. You know the kind. Smug liberals with Obama ‘08 stickers on the back of their H2s that openly tisk, tisk the Ann Coulters and Bill O’Reillys for being prejudicial zealots, lacking in compassion, but would hastily get a new alarm system if a black …read more

Check out Almost Vegetarian today for a yummy recipe for the kids from yours truly. It’s tasty for adults too. My obsession with “greening” my family has extended to the food we eat and I really enjoy it as well. We all know getting enough of the right kinds of foods in our diet is vitally important to our health and appearance. It doesn’t have to cost a lot and you don’t have to use super fancy ingredients. Happy cooking!

So we are about halfway through our box o’ goodness from our local natural foods store and we are hooked. In our inaugural box we received: 5 bananas, 3 white onions, 6 Russet potatoes, two bunches of kale and spinach, 3 kiwis, 4 mini Pink Lady apples, a bag of golden carrots and two grapefruits *panting*. That’s all I can remember right now, but can you believe it? Oh wait, some oranges too. All of that for $25.00. We ended up spending $20.00 less than our weekly grocery budget. And since it’s like bitterly cold outside, you know the kind that makes you want …read more

It’s funny when you are a kid you think that your parents have the answer to everything and will always make it okay. Then when you become an adult you have a lightbulb moment and realize that they, like you, didn’t know what they heck they were doing and were just winging it. The truth is that while chronologically I am an adult, I feel like I’m still 17 about half of the time. I think it’s hilarious that to certain people I am known only as “the bug’s mommy”. I also think it’s funny that friends that we used to get …read more

Most of us do not get enough fruits and vegetables in our diet on a daily basis. You know who you are*hangs head in shame*. With the pressures of work, family and everything else, it’s hard to put it at the top of my list. What if there was a way to get fresh, locally grown, organic produce delivered to my home every week. What’s that you say? There is a way? Almost every major city now has a way for you to get this service. I found one in my neck of the woods through one of the hubby’s …read more

Check out this article on Planet Green about how to have great looking skin the natural way. Sounds very similar to what someone else I know said a while ago…hint, hint. Nothing I said was revolutionary or new, it’s information that is readily available but people just choose to ignore it. Maybe if it comes from a more reputable source, as opposed to me who is barely credible, more people will take note. Although I’m thinking it’s like preaching to the choir. People who eat Fritos and drink Coke and Red Bull daily aren’t likely to be on Planet Green or …read more
