We will have to take bets as to which is more painful, 13 hours in a car with a toddler or 3 hours on a plane with a toddler. Anyway you slice it, I’m thinking it’s going to suck. I’m also taking into account how much flying period sucks. Stuffed into those cramped seats, being coughed on by sick passengers. The worst is how dry my skin gets. I try not to drink too much water because, well, my nickname is little bladder. Through trial and error, I have discovered that the best way to lessen the dry problem is to be proactive. Use this time wisely, multi-task. I put a nice leave-in conditioner in my hair and pull it back into a low ponytail. I am fond of Phytonectar Ultra Nourishing Oil. Be careful not to put too much on. You don’t want to be greasy, you just want your hair to glisten. I am off. Hopefully I will return in one piece and without having been arrested for assaulting a flight attendant. Wish me luck!

I grew up in Southern California, so all of my experience with cold climates comes straight out of Hollywood. Picturesque snow covered streets. People walking merrily through those snow covered streets with a thin scarf and maybe some gloves. So imagine my utter shock when I actually moved to a place where it’s cold and most likely snowing seven months out of the year. Not at all what I expected. For instance, I was not prepared for what it would do to my skin and hair. Around this time of the year my hair starts to get really dry and uncooperative. I think really it’s to spite me for bringing us here, but maybe I’m reading into it too much.

So I try to combat the dryness with a rich conditioning treatment every week. I really can’t say enough about Phyto products. It’s one of the few product lines that I have stayed loyal to over the years. The Phytonectar Pre-Shampoo Ultra Nourishing Oil Treatment is the perfect solution. I can’t find anything wrong with this product. Egg oil, Soybean and Sunflower extract. I was skeptical at first but the results are amazing and when I don’t use it my hair just doesn’t have the same bounce and softness.

Seriously try it out and I guarantee you will have the same results. It’s not just for cold weather climates, it will work for anyone, anywhere.

In shopping at the mall last week, I stopped into one of those mall hair salons. You know the ones with the cheap hair cuts, but walls of product. Great hair products!

I was totally surprised, happily so, to see that one of my favorite hair care lines, Nexxus, had this Phyto Organics line. Where has this been? Or, more to the point, where have I been?

The line is full of your usual shampoos, conditioners, and styling products. But they all have one thing in common – a very rare nutrient-rich Certified Organic Quinoa Protein. Along with more soothing botanicals and marine minerals, seaweed extracts, alfalfa extract, and aroma therapeutic oils, these products have what we need to nourish not only our hair but are well-being too.

Now, this is a full line of products, based on these organic and botanicals I just mentioned, with specific mini lines, if you will, to treat different hair types.

The Shampoo Line-Up:
Hydruss
Inergy
Kelate
Syntress
Theratin

The Conditioners:
Babassu
Enphuse
Humectin
Hydraide
Luxxtress
Nectaress

The Styling Products:
Absolute Finisher
Absolute Hair Spray
Ambient
Canopy Thermal Protection
Creative Sculpting Putty
Designing Spray Gel
Emphasis Redefining Gel
Maxify Volumizing Mousse
Transfigure Molding Paste
Natural Memory Spray
Omnistyler
Resilient Finishing Spray
Sea Swell Texture Mist
Veneer Shine Drops

I have been using the Sea Swell Marine Mineral Styler. It is a light-holding styling mist that helps to give my hair thickness and texture. I love the fact that it naturally protects my hair from UV rays, and makes me look like I just sent a day at the beach with my tousled hair.

You can find Sea Swell, which sells for $12, and the rest of the Phyto Organics line at fine hair salons that carry Nexxus products.
