Customized Tunics From Peeko Apparel

Customized Tunics From Peeko Apparel

Etsy shopping…. The Peeko Apparel shop at Etsy is stocked with unique handmade clothing items made from reclaimed, recycled, can reconditioned materials. I really like the tunics, some as long as short dresses, made from men’s dress shirts. She reuses parts of the shirts – collars, sleeves, etc – in new ways to make a peaked sleeve or a stand-up collar. Really interesting designs.
The tops are customized – you pick the color and material combination for your shirt and it’s sized to your specifications. Each tunic takes 3 weeks to make,  so if you are planning to make it a …read more

Green Company: Green Diva Jewelry

My favorite  style of earrings is a hoop. I can still remember my very first pair of little gold hoops, when I was 11. This pair of silver hoops was made by the Green Diva Jewelry company out of hammered, recycled silver. The hammered texture gives the timeless classic hoop a “…bit of an edge.”  They are 2.5 inches in diameter.

Roses Are Red Recycled Necklace

I love the bold statement of this necklace from Kenjiku. It’s made with red glass stones or beads - small on the pendant, larger on the neck chain. The rose charm measures 2 1/2 inches in length and 2 inches in height.

Umbrella Chic Canadian Style

Umbrella Chic Canadian Style

Project Runway Canada aired their second episode last night on Slice. I must say, I’ve been very impressed so far. Iman is a fantastic host (she’s bitchy in a way that Heidi never is), the production value is very high for original Canadian Cable programming, Brian Bailey is hands-on in a way that Tim Gunn never seems to be (but this could be due to editing more than anything) and the talent abounds.
Last night was the obligatory “green” episode. The designers had to make a cocktail dress out of discarded umbrellas. I thought it was an interesting take on …read more
