Every so often a controversial trend makes it way back around. The Jumpsuit is just that type of trend. People either love it or they hate it. Me? I love it.

If you are brave enough to try the Jumpsuit trend this time around, then here are a few simple tips to keep you from looking like a throw-back to the 80s.

*Choose a jumpsuit that is tailored in a drapey, but still close to your body fit. You do not want to look like a farmer in overalls or an airplane mechanic. There’s nothing wrong with either of those jobs, they just are not known for their fashion sense. You want to be known for your fashion sense.

*Choose a jumpsuit with an open neckine, shoulder straps, or some sort of bareness to the top half of the outfit . We are looking to create some length and balance here.

*Keep your makeup and hair simple and modern. If your hair is long, wear it loose and wavy or in relaxed ponytail. Short hair should be soft and stylish, in keeping with the lounge-y feel of the jumpsuit.

*An open-toed shoe or sandal works much the same as the open neckline, that I mentioned above. They work together to draw the eye up and down to create a longer silhouette. You can really change the look of your jumpsuit with the shoe choice – dress it up or down with flat sandals or heels.

*A soft sash-type belt will keep the look modern. Avoid the wide cinched waist look of the 80s. The Jumpsuit of today is more about relaxed elegance.

Here’s a beautiful example of the Jumpsuit of today. It’s by Elroy Apparel of Vancouver, Canada. It’s made of 100% Bamboo (sustainable fabric), featuring a “cross over drap neckline and drawstring waist.” It has that open bareness to the neckline that I mentioned above and it’s in a classic black color that you can dress up or down easily.

Was $210 Canadian, but it’s currently on sale for $157.50

So this week, as part of our Whole Health and Wellness theme, I am going to embark on a raw food diet. What I really wanted to do was to detox and really clean out my body. I’ve heard about the raw food lifestyle for years and decided that it was most definitely not for me. I enjoy lovely pastas and sauteed veggies WAY too much to give it up. It just occurred to me however that there’s no need to change my entire life. I could just try it for a week, couldn’t I? Can I make it a week even is the question?

The idea behind it I discovered is that the act of heating foods above 116 degrees is said to break down vital enzymes that aid in digestion and absorption. We all know that an ideal diet should consist of foods as close to their natural state as possible, so this sort of makes sense to me. Sort of. It has many expected benefits including more energy, better digestion, weight loss, lower risk of heart disease. The one that caught my eye however was improved skin appearance. Way to play to my vanities.

The obvious question then becomes, well exactly what will I eat? Just like apples and uncooked spinach or something? Low and behold there are actually a lot of really yummy looking recipes. Check out this one for “lasagna”. Seriously. If that doesn’t look good to you then I may need to come to your house and have a talk. So who’s with me? I want takers. I mean it raise your hand. Everyone who is willing to try this with me please leave a comment. Or if you already subscribe to a raw food lifestyle, please share. Starting Thursday my diet will consist of at least 75% raw food. I’m really excited for this little experiment. Please try it with me and we can compare whose skin looks dewier. Oh and shhh…the hubs doesn’t know he’s doing it too. *Snort*

She will be kicking off a full week of giveaways starting on March 24th. Check out her website for yummy recipes and tips in the meantime. I tried her “Nanner” smoothie and it was just TOO GOOD. The kind of yummy that makes you actually say “yummy”. The only changes I made to the recipe was to add some baby spinach because you can’t even taste it when it’s all blended and we used soy yogurt since the bug is dairy free. Do check it out.
