Etsy Weekend: Copper Garden Earrings

Etsy Weekend: Copper Garden Earrings

Etsy weekend shopping…I love copper accents. I love the warmth of the color and how the copper changes with age. These earrings are upcycled with vintage beads – notice the etching on the beads. These are lovely earrings with a boho feel – my favorite style, as I’ve mentioned before. They are shipped in a black box, perfect for gift giving.
Copper Garden Earrings – $24

Vintage copper beads that are etched in a delicate floral design are strung on a rosy copper ballpin, suspended on handmade hammered copper rings, and finished with copper leverback earwires. A coppery garden for your ears…

Etsy Weekend: White Owl Jewelry

Etsy Weekend: White Owl Jewelry

Etsy weekend shopping…. I found an interesting interview with  jewelry designing sisters, Courtney Spivak and Christina Spivak, whose shop White Owl carries lovely jewelry made from vintage items like  reclaimed crochet pieces, lace, or metals.
The sisters are creative by influence and choice – their interview says that they are “from a family of artists…” Courtney Spivak teaches communications at the college level, makes short independent films, and is also a musician. Christina Spivak is a stylist and commercial photographer. She’s worked in both independent and Hollywood film. The sisters began by selling their pieces in craft fairs and now their work …read more

Etsy Weekend: Fun Charm Pendants

Etsy Weekend: Fun Charm Pendants

Etsy weekend shopping……… Today we are going to take a look at Creative Rampage’s shop.
How cool is this Ouija board necklace?!  Made from a recycled bottle cap, it measures a bit larger than 1 inch. The Ouija necklace is strung on a 24 inch ball chain. I remember getting an Ouija board for Christmas one year and it was always such a fun, but creepy experience playing with it. Either one of my girls would love this charm pendant.

Vintage Sea Glass Worry Locket

Vintage Sea Glass Worry Locket

I love the ocean and as a kid we spent a lot of time at the beach. Huntington Beach, to be specific, in Southern California. We used to find beach glassand to this day, I watch for it, when I have the opportunity to walk the shore. (Pismo, not Huntington, these days). I love the feel of it, the frostiness of the color – especially the blue and green glass, although color-less glass is cool, too. The broken edges smoothed by endless tumbles along the sand.

I found this gorgeous vintage sea glass Worry Locket today at the Ghost Ship …read more

Vintage Typewriter Key Jewelry

Vintage Typewriter Key Jewelry

Another Sunday, another Etsy look-around.  If you’ve never shopped Etsy before, take a look. It’s a cyber mall full of unique handmade items.  I’ve purchases perfume, candles, a tote bag, and earrings there. All beautiful items unlike anything I’d find at Target (although I enjoy Target, as well).
Today, I found jewelry made out of vintage typewriter keys – typewriters from the 1800s-1940s. How cool is that?
I love words and letters and anything to do with words and letters, so you might be able to guess how much I am coveting a pair of tab key earrings. The jewelry is all handmade …read more

Sunday Shopping At Etsy

It’s time for an Etsy shopping trip…..
Artimentary’s shop features earrings made with recycled and vintage materials.  I love these little vintage lucite roses. They remind me of either underwater sea creatures or roses on a brithday cake. Not sure which, but both interest me.

These earrings are made of vintage glass beads and brass. They would look adorable nestled in an Easter basket.

5 Places To Shop For Eco-Friendly Fashion

If you are a fan of the idea of eco-friendly fashion, but are unsure where to begin your Earth-loving shopping, then I’ve put together a list of jumping-off points for you.
*Vintage or Resale Shops
The easiest way to go green with your style is to purchase something that’s already been around for awhile. When shopping vintage, you’ll find a particular attention to detail that is not present in newer similarly priced clothing.
This sun dress from Vintage Vixen illustrates what I mean.  Take a look at the scalloped edging, the subtle diamond embossing of the cloth, the bow-straps. Made in the 70’s …read more
