A few things to think about……

* Good shoes can be reheeled. Find a qualified shoe repair and a good pair of shoes can last a lifetime.

* Shoes with cracked leather uppers or shoes that are heavily scuffed are not worth any price. The leather cannot be repaired and anything other than tiny scuffs will be obvious if you try to cover them.

* Some good online shops to look for vintage or even used, but very current shoes, include eBay, Etsy, Vintage Vixen, and Candy Says (UK).

* If you are purchasing your shoes online, be sure to use a seller with a good reputation and rating.

Diba Women’s Julip Boot

These boots by Diba are perfect for weekend wear. They are low-heeled, run high up the leg, and have a sort of easy-slouchiness to them. I’d pair these boots with tights and a skirt, so that the full length of the boot is visible. They are available in brown, black, and royal blue.

I was a big Keds girl back in the day. I would keep 2 pair in constant rotation so that I always had a clean white pair available. I had this trick were I’d soak one pair in a sink of bleach and water.  Eventually they’d disintegrate, as you might expect.

The Green Label Keds sneaker is available in two styles – the Willow Lace Up in white, black, and green or the Meadow Mock Toe in white, blue, and tan. I requested the black Willow Lace Up, but they sent me the green. It’s a cute green, very fresh and apple-y. It feels like there’s a bit more to the sole of the Keds than I remember. It feels a lot like an old school Vans lace up, looks like it, too.

This shoe has a lot of features that make it green. It is made with 100% Organic Cotton and it’s made with recycled rubber  (outsoles) and recycled water bottles (laces). The dyes used are non-toxic  and for each pair of Green Label Keds sold in 2009, a tree will be donated and planted in conjunction with the Arbor Day Foundation.

I like the shoe. It’s a comfortable, casual sneaker and the green color is fun. It looks and feels like a traditional shoe to me, which I see as a good thing. I’m all for being as green as possible, but when it comes to my feet, a good, comfortable fit is what matters most.

Here are some cute back-to-school sneakers.

Lady Grunge Vintique has a Vintage Gauze White Mexican Tent Dress for $45. Ooh, this looks fresh, pretty, and comfy – just what I’m looking for in a Summer dress. It doesn’t list a size or year, so if you want the specifics, you can contact the seller. Lovely dress, though, and it says that is in “excellent” condition.

I know that people usually equate shoulder pads and neon colors with  ’80s fashion,  but this Floral Mini reminds me of the sweeter side of the clothing of the era. It’s a size Medium and in excellent condition. It features ruffles, a flared skirt, button-up front, and a belt tie. It’s listed in the Midnight Flight shop for $32. 

My girlfriends and I used to call these vintage Leather Sandals, “Regulars.”  As in, My Regular Sandals. They would start out all stiff and you’d get them wet to soften the leather. Over time they would grow more and more comfortable. I sure wish I wore a size 7, because then I’d snatch up this pair. I just showed them to my teenage daughter and she loved them.  If you’ve got $20, then this pair from Cocomio could be yours.

It all began back in 2006 when Blake met some shoeless kids in Argentina. Did you know that in developing countries use walking as their primary way of getting were they need to go? The problem with going shoeless is that their feet get hurt from all that barefoot walking and when that happens, it leaves them vulnerable to disease.

Wearing shoes prevents feet from getting cuts and sores on unsafe roads and from contaminated soil. Not only are these injuries painful, they also are dangerous when wounds become infected. The leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted parasites which penetrate the skin through open sores. Wearing shoes can prevent this and the risk of amputation.

Many times children can’t attend school barefoot because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don’t have shoes, they don’t go to school. If they don’t receive an education, they don’t have the opportunity to realize their potential.
