Wasted

So to follow up on our conversation the other day about the new Planet Green channel, I finally caught that show Wasted. I should say I actually could not even finish the episode, it was so aggravating to me. I know that’s the point, right. You get aggravated and then watch the participants change the way they view the world and change their lives, faith in humanity is renewed etc. However, I just couldn’t get past a few things and I know I should. We all do things that have a negative environmental impact. There is always room for improvement. But when confronted with the reality of your wastefulness and you say, “it is what it is”, ahhh, just ahhhh. I had to turn it off.
The thing that got me was I know SO many people like this. Bigger, better, trash this, buy the new hot that. It feels insurmountable when you see people clothing their pampered 9-year old in fur and trashing plastic water bottles like it’s their job. Using disposable plates, cups and utensils for every. single. meal beacuase obviously it’s too hard to wash a dish. It just makes me want to stay in my house or move to Manitoba or something and live off the grid. There has to be a middle ground somewhere. What’s my point? No point today, I just don’t think I can watch that show again. Have you seen it? It’s just cheesy too. I dunno. How do you feel about it? Should I just shut-up and talk about lotion? Mmm…kay I’ll be quiet now.

Never seen it. But I’ve never seen SATC, prolly for the same reasons.
I admit to having had a shopping addiction (that’s what the Wanted stuff sounds like) which I am mostly over. So, I do think (most) human beings have the ability to change.
The middle ground? We do what we can, and try not to stress about what we can’t. Or other people.
BTW: I do see for sale signs on Big Trucks in my neighborhood. And what’s up with those oversize tires?
Sounds like a show I would like.
I won’t be watching since I don’t have cable.
Nine year olds wearing fur, really? That’s sad.
Did not have a chance to see, but checked their web: http://planetgreen.discovery.com/tv/wasted/
looks O.K.
