Pretty by Nature

Wednesday: Questions and Answers

Today’s question is how to get the best shave. To me it depends on what you’re shaving but I will assume that we are talking about your basic underarms and legs. I hope it’s not back hair or something because then you’re on your own lady.

I tend to be obsessive about certain things. Bath and beauty products is obviously one of those areas. When I get on a kick, I just keep going with it until I get sick to death of it. Right now I’m on oils. Bath oils, oil cleansers and now shaving oil. I heard about the All Natural Shaving Oil from Pacific Shaving Company and I’m all “bout it, bout it” now. They will plant a tree for every bottle of shaving oil sold. You know how I love my hubs old fashioned shaving cup but this is pretty nice too. What’s better than a shaving oil you can both use? Well, I guess one you won’t have to share but whatever. We don’t live in a perfect world. What’s his is mine and what’s mine is…mine. I have issues with sharing, I’m an only child.

The best thing about a shaving oil is that it doesn’t necessitate the use of an after shower oil. I’m diligent about uber moisturizing after I shave. No ingrowns, no whammies. Never, I mean NEVER dry shave. It’s murder on your skin. Stand in the shower for a few minutes before shaving so your skin gets plump. You’ll get a better shave that way. Then blot dry, don’t rub and moisturize straight away. And yes I actually do apply lotion to my underarms. It never occurred to me that I shouldn’t until an old roommate pointed it out to me that it was bizarre. It’s up to you my lovelies. Here’s to smooth soft skin every shave.

I can ‘t believe that sell shaving oil(they do obviously!). I always thought oil would clog up razors. I am more used to foams(and will use the ocaisional(sp?) conditoner as a subsitute.

I once tried a Kiehls shaving oil at a friend’s and found the results to be quite smooth…not sure why I never went out and got it…probably forgot.
