When Chemicals are Good.

When your hubby is hospitalized due to a staph infection, that entered into his body through a teeny-tiny cut on his toe, you quickly learn that chemical use in soaps can be a lifesaver.

While my soaps of choice tend to be of the natural type, earlier this week, I stopped by bath and body works to pick up their antibacterial soaps (which are on sale 5 for $15 right now) to keep at my sinks. But I learned from the hospital today, that because hubby will obviously be more prone to these types of infections in the future, we need to do more.

The nurses recommended the following:

nexcare

Nexcare, from 3M, Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer. This is what they have at the entrance to every hospital room and elevator where my husband is staying.

They also use this, which also came highly recommended from my friend Christina of eBeautyDaily and MRSA Resources Fame.

hibiclens

Hibiclens, is an antiseptic, antimicrobial skin cleaner that is used over the entire body by patients prior surgery, and those prone to bacterial infections.

I’ll be back soon with more on natural products in my 30-Day Challenge.

    Thanks God for chemicals.

Natural things are great and all but when you need something to kill disease causing microbes, synthetics are the way to go.

  2. SageRave says:

People tend to forget that safe chemicals are around us everyday. I am glad your husband didn’t lose his toe to the infection!
