Check & Plaid Prints For Fall 2009

Another Fall trend you need to incorporate in your wardrobe is the check and plaid prints. It is almost a given actually if you think about it but the ones you’ll find nowadays are really nice. Let me show you some of my check and plaid picks from Neiman Marcus.

Armani Collezioni Plaid Ties, $145 each. Pick from brown, purple, or red plaid ties. They’re made of pure silk from Italy.

Where else would you first go for check prints but Burberry, right? Here is a pair of Burberry Check Cuff Links in purple. This $195 cuff links also comes in blue color.

How debonair is this Dolce & Gabbana Black Check Velvet Tuxedo Jacket? Features include peaked lapels and button cuffs. This velvet and silk check jacket is $2795 at Neiman Marcus.

How about a plaid t-shirt from Theory? I like it. Not too shabby at all. This one has patched pocket on left chest and costs $105.

And of course we can’t leave out the classic check long sleeves shirt like this one from Burberry. It’s a nice casual shirt for Fall season. $195

Burberry Slim Fit Woven Check Shirt

Whether you’re a Man or a Woman, it’s tricky to pull off a plaid print shirt. That’s not the case with this Burberry Slim Fit Woven Check Shirt ($195). It might have something to do with the broad squares or maybe because it’s Burberry. I pick the latter and the fact that it’s blue. Most Men usually tend to pick the darker earthy tones. I much prefer this blue color. Not too dark, not too bright.

Now the question is, to tuck or not to tuck? I’d pick “not to tuck”, unless you want to look like a lumberjack. Not that there is anything wrong with looking like one of course. It’s just a matter of preference.

If you’re going to wrap yourself around with a $350 Burberry Twill Robe then it’s safe to assume you wouldn’t mind a $275 Burberry Boxed Woven Pajama Set, right? Man it must be nice..LOL. Looks comfy doesn’t it? A classic button front pajama shirt matched with elastic waist-pants. Very comfy indeed. Good Luck trying to get your wife/gf from wearing it herself . Find it at Nordstrom for $275.

Rules Of Style : Christopher Bailey

Christopher Bailey who? If you’re wondering who he is, he’s just the Creative Director for Burberry thankyouverymuch . So this is the guy behind the “disheveled elegance” of Burberry collections. If you haven’t noticed, She Knows Best Loves Burberry. Therefore, it’s only apropos that I share with you Christopher Bailey’s Rules of Style compiled in the DETAILS Men’s Style Manual.

1. If your jewelry or cuff links are the first thing somebody comments on when they look at you, they’re probably a little too much. Christopher says a watch must be discreet and must go with everything. I just had an epiphany about the latter comment on watch. I’ve been walking around without one for months now. I haven’t really found one I like that would go with everything. I’ve shopped for a nice watch but has always put ‘em back on the shelf in the end. Interesting…

2. It’s fun to wear things that are “off the moment”. Just not everything. I can see that he’s into subtlety eh?

3. You need to sense the body underneath the clothes. Apparently, if the body is undecipherable underneath a clothing, it looks sloppy.

4. If you’re somebody who’s not so into fashion, just dress for the environment. Find yourself in the city?, wear something dark and tailored.

5. I really admire Men who wear ties. He feels like a prick in wearing a tie. He doesn’t like the suit-with-sneaker-and-t-shirt look. He thinks it’s really not their personality and would want to tell them to get a pair of brogues instead.

6. A suit needs a nice classic shirt. Prints and bold color are meant for jeans and chinos.

7. I think guys are definitely less intimidated by the whole concept of grooming in the last few year. I’ve noticed that too myself. Christopher says it’s not because of the guys from the Queer Eye for the Straight Guys but because of David Beckham and other guys who are not afraid to look good and clean.

8. A few little squirts of fragrance on your chest is better than ten squirts on your neck. Unless you’re really really really handsome, don’t get highlights. LOL, sorry but that’s all I have to say about that.

9. If you feel a little bit overdressed, you’re probably really overdressed. OUCH!

10. You have to be a certain type to carry off a leather jacket. Make it tailored. Boxy one will make you look old.

11. When it comes to dressing, I think Men have to try a little harder, a little less hard as well. HUH? Be adventurous but with soul and instincts. There’s a thing called mirrors.

Burberry Scarves : Cashmere Exploded Check? OR Logo?

If you live in the US East Coast, Canada or Europe, I’m sure you’re feeling the cold. Right now it’s the Fall breeze but that Winter mist is fast approaching. A nice scarf as an accessory to you neck would surely help you battle the cold in the morning on your way out. A Burberry scarf for example. Now the question is, which Burberry scarf are you opting for?

The Cashmere Exploded Check scarf or the Logo Scarf? I prefer the cashmere scarf. It’s classic Burberry check print. It’s not as “showy” as the Logo scarf. But that’s just me. Check them both out here.

Neiman Marcus V.I.T : Burberry Status Bags

V.I.T stands for Very Important Trends. Neiman Marcus has a list right now of V.I.T’s and status bags are one of them. Looking through the line of messanger bags and duffles from different designers like Prada and Gucci, I was more drawn to the Burberry line. I think it was because of the grey color incorporated with it’s signature check pattern and the solid chocolate brown color in leather texture that has really caught my fancy. Judge for yourself….

But of course I’m still enamored with the signature Burberry color so…

Along with the Burberry line for V.I.T’s status bags category are the collection from Prada, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. Find them all at Neiman Marcus.

Caps ala Brad Pitt

More inquires came my way regarding an item I featured here at She Knows Best. This time though, it didn’t have anything to do with our usual suspect, aka David Beckham . This time around, it’s the “newsboy” grey tweed cap that Brad Pitt wore while strolling Central Park in NYC with daughter Zahara. You’d be happy to know that he wore the same cap at Deauville Film Festival promoting his new movie: “The Assassination Of Jesse James“. So per some of our reader’s request I went virtual shopping for newsboy caps. Here are what I found :

Brown/Gray Tweed Flat Cap with brown leather brim from Dolce & Gabbana. The logo design is embossed in the back.

Lana Operata Hat from Prada. Pick from either black or gray.

Burberry Corduroy Cap. Burberry logo is embroidered at center back. Either pick a brown or black color.

I like the leather brim on the D&G brown/grey tweed cap.

David Beckham, What Undershirt Are You Wearing?

A reader was quite impressed by my googling prowess when I found David Beckham’s Black Dior Homme Belted Jacket so he asked if I could help him out finding out what kind of undershirt David Beckham is wearing while running some errands with one of his sons and his equally hot wife, Victoria aka Posh Beckham.

At first glance, the undershirts look like just regular cotton shirts from Hanes. Or it could be from Fruit of the Loom.

But, since we’re talking about David Beckham here, he might be wearing undershirts from bigger designer names.

But then I could be wrong. So if any of you know exactly what brand David Beckham wears in undershirts, please let us know. It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Money Clips Instead Of Bulky Wallets?

My husband has been driving me crazy about money clips lately. Apparently, the bulkiness of his wallet usually tucked inside one of his back pocket is driving him crazy. Imagine that.. LOL. So he found one at the mall last night for $10. It’s cheap but it’s too shiny. I told him the fashion term is stainless steel. Blah . But yeah, I’m not going to shop at Neiman Marcus anytime soon for money clips but if you guys are feeling “bulky” behind as well and want a designer one I thought I’d check the store out for what they have in regards to money clips.

My husband would definitely bark at me for picking a logo-loaded clip but it’s Gucci, $100 , mystic white and it looks kinda nice .

This $105 money clip from Burberry is actually my favorite. I really love that Burberry trademark check stripe print on stylishly placed just one side. Very sleek.

And for a leather money clip, I choose this Salvatore Ferragamo leather in natural money clip. It comes in black too. But I prefer the natural tone .

Burberry Round or Rectangle Cuff Links? Take Your Pick

With it’s blue color and signature check print, this pair of round Burberry cuff links is certainly cool and refreshing. It also comes in Lilac color. I like it. Accessories venturing out to different colors instead of just sticking with either sterling silver, platinum or gold. A touch of color never hurt anyone .

For a subtle yet elegant touch, how about opting for this one-side rectangle cuff links? The signature Burberry check accenting the silver plated cuffs brings out your dapper style a la Cary Grant and his present counterpart, George Clooney. This also comes in Brit Check(black) color by the way.

So, the round colored cuff links saying you are cool or the subtle yet elegant rectangle cuff links? I think the round colored ones are for daytime, casual suits while the rectangle cuffs are for night time, formal suits. Either way, you’re covered
