The opening party of Tommy Hilfiger’s Hilfiger Denim in Soho NYC brought along a lot of major stars from the world of fashion, actors and musicians alike.

Marky Ramone, former drummer for iconic NYC punk act The Ramones, dee-jayed against a backdrop of vintage rock and pop-culture relics at Hilfiger Denim, Tommy Hilfiger’s first U.S. outpost for his premium denim collections, which celebrated it’s SoHo opening.

Along with Tommy Hilfiger and daughter Ally, other celebrity attendee included: Eric Szmanda from CSI Miami, Anne Dexter Jones, Cobra Starship, the hottest NYC band, model Eve Salvail, designer Traver Rains of Heatherette, recording artist Diamond Eyes, recording artist Zieme, and model CariDee English.

I had an exclusive Pass to go to this party. Unfortunately I don’t live in New York. 2 years ago would’ve been a different story though. It would’ve been nice to mingle with all these stars and to check out the first US Store of Hilfiger Denim. I hope I get another opportunity like this sometime. *knock on wood*

Tommy Hilfiger Launches Hilfiger Denim Store in SOHO New York City

Tommy Hilfiger is opening the first US Hilfiger Denim Store.

Located at 500 Broadway, you will find the following at the Hilfiger Denim SOHO store..

The fall/winter ‘07 Hilfiger Denim collection – the first ever available in America – includes three premium women’s and men’s lines ranging in price from $98 to $175. (Past collections have sold throughout Europe since 2000.)

Décor highlights include:
Tom Dixon mirror balls
Eero Aarnio bubble chairs
Vintage posters
Image-casting, custom-designed LED chandelier
Hollywood-lighted cabinetry
Library walls
State-of-the-art DJ booth and sound system

Other merchandise available at Hilfiger Denim includes western shirts, cricket sweaters, baseball polos, t-shirts and other basics, as well as some vintage items. A special line of selvedge denim, priced at $250 per item, includes, for a limited time, a number of items signed by Tommy, at $375.

From Men’s Health October magazine issue. There are 3 “Don’t’s” when it comes to buying Denim Jeans. And here they are :

Don’t Jump in the Bandwagon
“Fitted jeans may be in, but wear them only if you are, in fact, skinny,” says Kevin Harter, vice president of fashion direction at Bloomingdale’s. If your legs are like tree trunks, opt for a more relaxed fit–no matter what the trend.

I don’t mean to be a nag, But I TOLD YOU SO!

Don’t Shop By Yourself
“Go with a girlfriend or girl friend,” says Harter. “She’ll be really honest about how you look.” This makes sense: She has to be seen with you.

Yay or Nay : Evisu Genes Denim Jeans

I’m sorry but who in their right mind would wear a pair of denim jeans with a white and red paint on their ass? Hey let’s not sugar coat it here please. There’s no doubt about it, this Evisu Genes Double Color Daicock Selvedge Jeans looks like crap. Not only would you look totally desperate because you let this kind of graffiti be imprinted on your backside just so people would pay attention to you, you’d be an idiot to pay $196 for a crappy jeans like this. Oh that’s the sale price by the way. Hey, just telling it like it is.

Big Fat NAY, that’s for sure. This denim design is just asking for a major spanking, heh.

Now this is totally different. The Japanese calligraphy on the pockets are not bad. This I could live with. I(and others) wouldn’t be laughing at your expense if I see you wearing this pair of jeans from the same designer. This kind of subtle graphic detail is more classy and doesn’t look totally desperate at all. If you’re willing to pay the sale price of $156 for a pair of denim jeans with a paint graphic on the be’-hind, might as well go for this one.

Oh Yeah, it’s a YAY .
