Here are 5 Things To Do For Mother’s Day that doesn’t involve too much money that I hope you’d consider doing for the Mother of your children/child.

Homemade Cards — gather up the kids a few days before Mother’s Day and spend some time doing crafty stuff for Mommy. You can buy materials from the Dollar Stores so everything should be affordable.

Watch DVDs — suck it up and rent her favorite tear-jerker or chick flicks. For one day, join her in the couch to watch a romantic-comedy movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, or Owen Wilson. Their movies are actually good if you ignore the fact that your wife is drooling over them, respectively. No disrespect towards you and your marriage of course. She just appreciates good looking Men and YOU are on top of her list since she married you after all.

Write Her A Song or Poem — this is always a hit. If you know how to play a guitar, then by all means go for it. A nice poem stating how much you love her and how much you appreciate everything she does to be the best Mom she can be would melt her heart out. Involve the kids if you want to as well. This would probably work on any special occasions.

Pamper Her — you can do this without having to send her to a spa. With how the economy is, I’m sure she’ll understand if her pampering is done at home. Prepare her bath, then hand her a glass of wine and whatever book she is currently reading. Make sure to tell the kids not to disturb Mom in her time alone time. A peaceful bath without anyone knocking on the door asking for something is ALWAYS appreciated. Afterwards, give her a back and foot massages. Hey, you might as well

If you get something in return at the end of the day for making the day special then Congratulations, that’s what we call a cherry on top. But I’m sure that’s not really what you’re after. I’m just saying,

He cooked breakfast : Scrambled eggs with shredded cheese on top, toasted wheat toast slithered with butter and good ‘ol crispy bacon. I shouldn’t disclose this coz it’s kinda ghetto but he used paper plates. LOL. He noticed my bewildered yet amused face while staring at the plate so he said, “I know it’s Mother’s Day but I don’t feel like doing dishes“. Hahaha. So I tagged my breakfast, “ghettofied romance“.

While eating breakfast, I read the card he gave me. Now that one was a little more sentimental. All I can say is that the message was succint but packed with meaning. 7 lines plus his greetings and “I Love You” words.

After that, he started doing laundry. Oh My Gosh. I abhor doing laundry. So for my husband to do this for me is such a huge deal. Then we took a shower together and went to Church. As soon as we got home, he proceeded on finshing the laundry which kinda got me busted coz the dryer still had the clothes from last week. Hehehe. I told you I hate laundry. Oh well, I guess since it’s Mother’s Day I got away with it coz he also folded the clothes. 2 loads dones so far, 1 more load is in the dryer.

As a cherry on top, he bought Happy Feet from Pay Per View for all of us to watch. I’m too cheap to buy it on DVD, haha.

No amount of material gifts can replace all the thoughtful things that the father of my kids did for me today. If you’re a Mom reader of SBK, I hope your Man made today a very special day for you. For all the fellas out there, I hope you made it special for your Mom and /or the Mother of your kids.

I love to cook so I would be jumping for joy if I woke up and this Kitchen Aid greets me when I make coffee in the morning.

With all the attachments. I said I’m low-maintenance yet all of these combined would cost my husband tons of money..LOL. Honestly though, I’d rather get this than a piece of jewelry. He can always do an installment. Kitchen Aid for Mother’s Day, the attachments come Christmas time.

I wouldn’t mind getting my ass dragged to the nearest(and safest) Tattoo parlor either. When I wake up that morning and my hubster tells me, “let’s finally get that butterfly tattoo you’ve been dying to get but scared shitless to go through with”, I’d be grinning from ear to ear while holding my knuckles until I probably faint. Hahaha.

CD’s are a good as well. I actually got the Kelly Clarkson(Breakaway) CD last year . This year I wouldn’t mind getting her new album but it’s not out until July. Katherine McPhee’s first album has been out for a while though . Albeit they’re both getting bad reviews, I don’t care. I love my Idols .
