Barong Tagalog is Philippines Men’s National Costume. It’s mostly worn by Filipino Men during formal events like weddings and award shows, etc. It’s the suit or tux equivalent to Filipino Men’s Wear. You could’ve knocked me over with a frying pan when I saw this guy on Wardrobe Remix who is calling himself “Manila’s Pride” with his punk rock interpretation of the Barong Tagalog. There was no way in hell he wasn’t gracing the She Knows Best, Stylish Man Project. The way he punktified(yes that is so such a word, hah) the Filipino Men’s Formal Wear by adding rock band patches was very impressive. I LOVE IT!

You know what else I love? The AC/DC buckle belt and the Levi’s yellow digital watch. Even though I’m not much into punk music, and the fact that I’m married to a Metal Martyr, I appreciate this punk twist to Barong Tagalog.

Compare to the Male Celebrities, our loving husband/boyfriend do not have to pay overpriced stylists to look good. They have cultivated their own style through the years on their own or with the help of their equally stylish wife/girlfriend. So it’s high time we give them credit and let them know how much we appreciate the fact that they didn’t just roll off of bed, put on a pair of dirty jeans without even bothering to look themselves in the mirror before letting the world know they’ve arrived. This is our way of saying “thank-you” for not wearing too-low-rise baggy jeans to give attention to their boxers/whitey-tighties or worse, their butt cracks in public.

She Knows Best 1st featured Stylish Man was William Lehman of Artist Hideout. This time it’s Scott Wharton of Metal Martyr and Health and Men who happens to be my husband. Some of you guys have said that jeans and shirts are probably not what this project is looking for. Well, here’s a proof that being stylish doesn’t necessarily mean wearing suits and trousers or tuxedos. Exhibit A, Scott is wearing the “Property of Heavy Metal” gray ringer graphic tee from Burnswell that I knew he would like, Levi’s light wash jeans, with black platinum tribal wedding band, wide-leather band Dickie’s watch and the best accessory of ‘em all, a Yankees baseball hat. Coz YANKEES RULE like a big fat prime rib and potatoes combo . Not seen on the pictures is the Air Jordan’s Nike Sneakers.

Of course don’t ignore the kick-ass tattoos, the guns and something else that I only noticed this morning while cropping the pictures. Talk about a sneaky metal head. But he’s my sneaky metal head .

To kick off the new series here at She Knows Best which I aptly called The Stylish Man Project, meet our Stylish b5media Art guru, William Lehman. Much to his chagrined, his wife Rebecca proudly shows him off wearing a white crisp button down shirt over a dark-wash denim jeans. With his slightly tussled hair, no wonder Rebecca was just too happy to send in his pictures.
